Thought I'd post this here in case you guys weren't aware. This can only help an Oakland playoff push....

The significance of this is that Oakland needs KC to loose at least 2 more games to have a chance in hell to win the AFC West. This almost ensures a Chiefs loss in S.D. this Sunday. Even if Cassell were to return after the SD game, he still has to face Oakland the final week.
Of course all of this means nothing if the Raiders can't win out the rest of the season (@Jacksonville, Indy, Denver, and @KC).
Chiefs' Matt Cassell has appendectomy
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel underwent an appendectomy Wednesday.
The Chiefs said the procedure was a success and they expected Cassel to return to work this week. They did not say he would be ready to play on Sunday when the first-place Chiefs (8-4) travel to San Diego for a showdown with the San Diego Chargers, who trail Kansas City by two games in the AFC West.
Taking most of the practice snaps Wednesday was Brodie Croyle, who is 0-9 as an NFL starter and has not appeared in a game all year. The Chiefs also signed quarterback Tyler Palko to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
Chiefs Coach Todd Haley declined to speculate on whether Cassel will be ready for Sunday's game.
"Again, he'll be on the injury report as illness today," Haley said. "And we'll just take it from there, as we do all injuries."
In his second season as the Chiefs' full-time starter, he has been thriving under the tutelage of Haley and first-year offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, completing 212 of 354 passes for 2,503 yards and 23 touchdowns with an NFL-low four interceptions.

Why would you get rid of Cable? Looked like he had everything in place. Got a QB understanding the offense, and the weapons on the field. 8-8 season isn't bad. That's terrible.... rumors has it that Hue Jackson (o-coord) is going to take the spot...

My best guess is he wants Hue as head coach to keep him from going to another team. I'm not a fan of that logic, but it's the only thing I can think of. Their aren't many credible coaches willing to work under Al's iron fist. Cable was one of them.
