i've heard good and bad about Everrett & Jones (i'll go by your spelling). i know there's one in the area of Jack London Square and there's one on A street in Hayward. Honestly I think I'd try the ghetto one in Hayward since the Jack London Square one looks too "pretty" for a true rib place.

i went to high school with the guy whose parents own the chain. They almost always cater to school functions and I must say they are some good eats.

If you want steaks or MEAT, try...........

Broadway Prime (Broadway, Burlingame)
Izzy's (new one in San Carlos just off 101 by the Airport Museum Holly st. exit)

Mexican:

Celia's on Peninsula Ave San Mateo/Burlingame

I'll second either Hawaiian Drive in RwC or L&L in either H-Town or on Mission in DC.

k, dunno if anyone posted this yet...

for all those craving some lumpia and adobo you can check out:

Toppings Too (spin off of Toppings in DC)
Address: 3910 Smith Street, Union City (next to Patty's Coffee Place)
Ph. 510.429.1058
Comments: Hole-in-the-wall Sari sari type Filipino Restaurant. Food is great and come in huge portions. I recommend the Pork Sinigang, Adobo, and Java Rice.

Take out only for the one on A street. Well... there's a couple of tables, but I doubt you'd want to dine inside. Ghetto is right... there's a thick plastic barrier between you and cashiers.

As for the one in Jack London, if you go on Saturday night, try to get seated in the front unless you like REALLY REALLY REALLY loud blues music. The last couple times I went they have a live blues band play and it's so loud you can't talk to the person next to you.

Their BBQ is pretty damn good though. Another good place for BBQ is memphis minnies in the lower haight in SF.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned

Gordo's Burritos in SF

The one I go to in on 9th Ave between Irving and Lincoln.

Really good, really cheap food.

I would kill for a Gordo's Burrito right now.

I totally agree with you bro, being a NYC transplant to the Bay this is the only place I've found in the city that I would respectfully call pizza. Also Amicci's Eastcoast Pizza in Mountain View is good but only for sit down, don't get it to go gets all nasty in the box. I tried the other Amicci's in San Mateo and it sucked!

Mexican food

$2 to <$15

in an area that is basically little mexico and has about 4 mexican restaurants within .2 miles of eachother, this is the best. homemade tortillas, homemade chips and salsa. its good. i always order a bean and cheese burrito for $2 and it more than fills me up. my co-worker orders beef soup, shrimp coctails, or azada burritos.

no one speaks english that works there though and there is no parking. oh man, i'm getting hungry just thinking about the food though.

Thumbs up

The BEST steak you'll ever get. Hands down. Everyone I've ever introduced to it agrees. Fred's Steak from Schaub's Meat Market at the Stanford Shopping Center. Yes, you have to cook it yourself...and yes, when you see it it looks a lot like a turd...but I swear to god, everyone that tries it gets addicted to them. They make sandwiches with it in there around lunch time too. Beats any fillet at any high class steak house easily. And there's only one place in the world to get them.
