The Official District 9 Thread! Reviews, and possible spoilers!
The long anticipated district 9 is out in the movies now and I'm curious to see what you guys thought about it.
Who has seen it?
Before I go on, if you plan to add spoilers to your post, please give us a warning before you do!
I didn't get to see the real deal, I did however watch part of a really poor quality bootleg, and even then the film seemed really cool, def right up my ally! I can't wait to see the rest in its entire form with good picture and audio.
I really wanna go today but i can't find anyone to go with, seems like everyone is at work or gone doing something. Anyone down to go see it in Union City or Milpitas today before 4pm?

I saw it Friday night. Had it figured out about 1/4 of the way in, so I just focused on how Peter Jackson managed the human/alien transitions in terms of humanizing the Prawns & de-humanizing the humans (its all in the eyes). Also if you know anything about the history of South Africa & apartheid, or any ethnic conflict...its very poignant. I was dying at the Nigerians, cuz all I could think about was craigslist/email scams.
Apparently a buddy of mine saw it with another friend , and the guy was like "this was based on a true story!"

As was said, the plot was predictable about a 1/4 of the way in. Once the "oh **** this is a parallel to history or a metaphor for modern times" moment strikes its easy to see the end. The characterization carried the plot and the special effects contributed to the film rather than distracting the audience from it. The style of the narrative also proved rather interesting. It gave the whole thing a bit unique of prospective.
I recommend not going into it with super high expectations. Just enjoy it.
Crazy weapons.

I watched it on Friday night. Went into it without knowing anything about it other than it involved aliens.
Very interesting movie and very unique. I wouldn't go as far as saying it is the best movie ever like I have heard others say, but it was worth seeing, definitely.

I liked it, definitely one of the best, more original movies that have come out these last few years. Kept me on the edge of my seat and pretty funny too.
**SPOILERS**
anyone think there will be a district 10?
