For the people that live out in antioch/brentwood/oakley you should go and try out La Costa if you haven't already. By far the best burritos around at only $4!!!! everything they sell there is fantastic and homemade

Damn, some of these sound great...
The Pizza and Curry combo sounds horrible but that pizza looks BEAUTIFUL and delicious... I think I'm going to have to try it out! The crust and quality looks amazing! Do they make regular pizzas too? Or is it just strange combo-Indian twist pizzas?

Better? No $$ consideration, just better?
The usual list in that case would be:
Kiss in SF
Sebo in SF
Sakae in Burlingame
Yume in Alameda
Sushi Ran in Tiburon
While I'd be willing to eat at any of these - I do consider one heads and shoulders above the rest.
BUT.... I think that's largely due to what I, personally, value most in sushi. I'm an ex professional cook. I'm not into fancy rolls and crazy silly ****. I'm into obsession with quality ingredients, simplicity and focus. I don't care about front of the house service or the room. I don't care about the view or how "cool" going to a place makes me feel. I don't care about the serving size or the "value" if I'm thinking about "the best." For me it's about the fish.
So my vote for best would be Sebo.
But a lot of people really HATE Sebo (just read the Yelp reviews). It's really all a matter of what you expect from sushi and what you want from a sushi experience. If there is a mismatch then you too will hate Sebo.
SF still doesn't have the Sushi quality of LA (Urasawa et al) or NYC (Yasuda or Masa et al). But Sebo is pushing us close IMHO.

Alright, how about Okina sushi on Arguello, in the Richmond? Thats kind of a hole-in-the-wall and pretty cheap.

California Sourdough makes the world's best deli sandwiches. No lie. http://www.yelp.com/biz/california-sourdough-san-jose
I used to work just a mile from there and I'd go as often as possible. So sad they only open from 11 AM - 2:30 PM on weekdays... it's hard to go back now. Their roast beef sandwiches are so unforgettable!

Oh, I forgot about my three favorite places in San Rafael
Michael's Sourdough
http://www.yelp.com/biz/michaels-sou...hes-san-rafael
West Brooklyn Pizza
http://www.yelp.com/biz/west-brookly...ooklyn%20pizza
Sol Food
http://www.yelp.com/biz/sol-food-pue...ine-san-rafael
The original Sol Food was more of a hole in the wall, so I think this qualifies.
