No Pliny at the Los Altos WF. However, I did pick up a bottle of the Old Guardian and Grand Teton Sheep Eater Scotch Ale. The OG is aging along with the Deschutes Abyss

I am sort of expecting that this cask will be me, you and Rob making the beer this round BTW. If that's cool.
That works for me. I'm assuming we'd be doing it on Rob's all grain system? Might be a good way to get into AG brewing.

Mmmmm... I still need to get some Abyss. I have two Pliny's left... I broke the rules and saved them for the weekend's Impreza suspension work I have planned.

Rob still does partial mash which is cool seeing how great the beers still taste. It was Wendy who does the full grain... She was saying she has several different kinds of grain at her house and even roasts it herself now before starting the process. She said we could brew over there some time - I think it would be awesome to check it out, she does everything from scratch, full boil and even keeps her own yeast culture alive as well. That, plus her conservation methods combined with how awesome her beer tastes, is groovy. Apparently her partner is into cars and wrenching and neither can stand the other's interests... Sounds like a fun place.

Yeah, it sucks to be sure. Weather is still crap here too and remember the beer friday is mostly outdoors.. On top of it all I feel like absolute crap.

This really sucks being on call, but it's the way it usually goes with IT jobs like this. This one is easier, and my wife offered to drive me if I were to become 'DJ Sloppy Drunk and the Fresh Fish' again, but with how the day has gone so far it's just dumb to chance it. I go off call on 3/8 so I will be basically marinating in IPA from that point on for the next two weeks. Then it's time to put away the credit cards, turn off all computers and have some Pliny! Speaking of that, my chainmail shirt should arrive on Monday.

LOL I can see the pics now....Pliny + Chainmail = Serious Win.

Understandable man, I was on call for pretty much three years straight (in addition to my day job), until I was offered a full-time gig with my current employer.

So, yesterday I was in my class that physically pains me to attend. The teacher is this retarded SF "hipster hippy" and is just a horrible teacher on top of that. Kind of a ***** at times too, so just an overall waste of my tuition money.

So anyways, I was talking with someone about another project and saying that I'm doing my newsletter about picking a beer style for people that "don't like beer."

At this point the teacher goes "Are you going to end up in the Northwest? They have some great brew up there. I love going to the Rogue brewery." and then continues talking about the Rogue brewery and the Rogue ale house in SF. I'm really confused, I hate her, but how can I hate a fellow craft beer appreciator?

Yep... Me and my "extra challenges" - it's a wonder I make it out of my house alive sometimes. So, my chainmail shirt came in yesterday and I had to run home at lunch anyway for some puppy time and such. I was sitting there thinking... It's here - I GOTTA try it on. So, I took it out - I got a size "M" but it's HUGE! And it's heavy even though it's nothing for a chainmail shirt since it's anodized aluminum instead if steel (this also means I don't have to keep it marinating in WD-40). So anyway, it was pretty challenging to put it on but the real fun came when I tried to take it off. Seriously I was halfway out of the shirt thinking to myself... "how am I going to explain THIS ONE to the boss..." Thankfully I got out of it, but I was planning on just coming in with the shirt on and being like... "because of THIS." Hahaha.... Oh man...

So yeah, I am a Network Engineer and I have had a hard time finding a work situation that does not require at least a little bit of on-call time. It sucks and it makes life suck because invariably, things always pop up when I am on call, so literally bi-weekly I have that decision to make... Miss out on life or be a good robot... I usually find a way to obey the intent of the rule if not the letter 100%.
