Jesus, I'm wondering how you guys out of school now keep up w/ martial arts! I haven't been able to train since I graduated.
Most of the competitive jobs = 50-70 hours/week (and I know a lot of people who do martial arts are people going into science/engineering or finance.), gym/cardio = an hour a day, going out on weekends, one night of destressing. I dropped into a boxing gym for a while to get a hardcore ***-whupin' but there was just no time/energy to do it 4 days a week plus a weekend day.
I guess most people who do MA seriously just don't go to the gym and use the training as a whole physical fitness routine?

Anthony - The more I think about it, the more I think I might wanna come back. I went to Team USA to check things out and I really don't care for it...
Musashi - Thanks for letting me know, but unfortunately Aikido is not high on the list of styles I'm interested in, at least for the moment
VIBEELEVEN - I'm in the City, and your suggestion has not fallen on deaf ears!
Kyokushin WRX - That sounds good, not too hard not too easy.
verc - I'm still in school so unfortunately I don't feel your pain
samurai - She's from Japan, and she started in elementary school (so she's had more than a decade of full-time training). I'll talk to her and see what dojo she came from. I DO know that she's competed in many national school competitions in Japan though.
Walt - right-o. Hope your Russian's polished haha.

Now THAT sounds fun. Martial arts open forum then maybe dinner afterwards. I'm sure all of us are mature enough not to send anyone home with injuries right?

cool, this will be a good opportunity for me to learn new things..like breathing techniques and stance training...i need to build up my foundation a lil more until i can start practicing my forms through baji-quan, and oh yea by the way choku dori, i dont take classes anywhere, a friend and i are both learning on our own, yea it sounds hard and maybe a little difficult since we dont have an intructor but its still ok...cant wait til we have a meet!!! i need new ideas!!! hehehe

Oh yeah, old news but for those who haven't had a chance, make sure you check out Pride FC's New Year event from Dec. 31, 2004 "Otoko Maturi: Sadame"! Some really superb fights including Rulon Gardner's MMA debut! It's available for rent at almost any Japanese video store
