Already had to switch to a family share plan last year. It saved about $30/month on 4 lines, and data hasn't been an issue so far. I gave my upgrade to my chick when her phone died though (so hers was free), so I did have to pay the discounted price just no primary line additional discount, but a lot better than full price.

Buying a used phone today and picking it up pretty late. 9pm ish
a) How do I make sure its not stolen?
b) How do I make sure it will work with Verizon?
c) Anything else I should check outside of phone turns on and off? Dont want to buy a botched phone.

Get the seller to tell you or send you a pic of the IMEI number. Then call Vz and ask if it is clean. If it is lost/stolen DO NOT BUY. If it is clean, you should be good to go.
Just check when you meet up with the person that the IMEI number is the same on the phone that you checked on with Vz.
