Not sure if the schedule is up or not, but just speculating on other affairs. Alex Smith looks like he'll either be a Chief or a Cardinal, what do you hope the 49ers trade for? IMO 49ers have the most picks I think in this years draft (12picks) Maybe hope for a 2nd round 2014 pick, but that's stretching it.

I also think it'd be wise to not have Alex Smith in the conference, sure he isn't the greatest QB, but better than what Arizona has right now.

49ers need DBs and D-Line. My guess is that the first round pick will be on one.

Unless Arizona upgrades their O-Line no QB is going to seriously thrive back there. If he goes there and they don't upgrade then he could potentially be injured with another separated shoulder injury (which would suck).

Even if he does go there, that would be an upgrade for their QB position, but Harbaugh and the staff also know Alex's weaknesses. Between that and the fact that they went from Ray Horton to Todd Bowles for their DC it just seems like the Cardinals at this point in time are at best the 4th best team in the Division.

It seems like the Niners and Seahawks will fight for the Division with maybe the Rams also being in the mix depending on how their offseason goes and who they acquire. It looks like Steven Jackson will no longer be back with the Rams and that could be a downgrade at that position for them.

I would love to get a big name In here but that's not the way Trent and Jim do things... I think we look for depth at D line and pass rush and maybe try bringing in a free agebt CB and possibly safety... I think at the most we get a 3rd for Alex.. Don't think it'll be much

Alex officially traded to KC:

San Francisco 49ers agree to trade Alex Smith to Chiefs - NFL.com

But in return we get 2nd round draft pick for 2013 and choice for 2014.

Not exactly "official" as the season doesn't start until March 12th. Not to say the deal isn't going to happen, just that it's nowhere near "official" at this point.

I hope he does well in KC, he's been a class act and has put up with a ton of crap here in SF (though he did get PAID).

Good luck in KC Alex. With a 31 and 34 pick, Im hoping we get Zach Ertz with one of those. Gonna be pretty bummed if we trade those for a has been WR/CB

a 2nd (2nd in the 2nd no less) and a mid rounder next year. Couldn't have asked for better compensation.

some young talent would be good for the team. It would be nice to add some depth in the defense as to my knowledge we don't have much in terms of good players that could take the place if anything happens to some of our premo defensive guys.

we might want to consider drafting a TE. Delanie walker has been pretty good swiss army kinfe thus far, but had some questionable dropped passes late in the season.

I'm sure some other teams have been eyeing him this off season..

If they get a second round pick and possibly another one for Smith then they've got some serious options. Second round is full of guys.

They could go with a guy like Hunt in that high second round pick or Banks. Could even consider an RB at this slot since they can got WR/Def lower in the round. If Lacy falls that far I'd take him in a heartbeat. They're going to have a HUGE draft class this year.

1st round pick. Super high second round. Another second round. Etc... that's 3 starters right there.

At TE. Walker isn't going anywhere. That dude is a monster for that team and Davis is fine. I don't think they should make any moves there but they could take a shot lower in the draft. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a shot at Ryan Otten out of San Jose State. Dude is dope.

Rather see him as a raider though. LOL!

I'm stoked, can't believe the 49ers swooped a 2nd round pick! picks 31 + 33! Niners could also move up on the draft if they find someone up there to grab. They have tons of picks this year. I'm excited and didn't think they'd get a 2013 2nd rounder, I thought maybe a 2013 second round pick. Pretty friggin' awesome since the chiefs are first round picks.

First 1-3 picks will definitely include both a DL/CB unless they get in a big trade.

I didn't think they would get anything more than a mid 3rd round pick. I figured they'd at least have to give up a 4th round pick with Smith to get a second round pick for him.

Good trade for them. Very good. As long as CK7 doesn't get hurt or flop this year.

With contracts pulled off and the right picks the niners could have a top end defense locked down for the next 10 years. This is a HUGE change in the tide for the program. Huge. They could easily be the a dynasty again. They need another WR bad and need to consider an RB.

Hunter isn't the future. He's a good guy to have but not the answer. Gore only has so many years left.

Wish the Raiders were this smart at the top of the organization.

I dont think you can replace a Gore. I think Hunter is good, Hunter + LMJ? I think they can carry the load. IMO I still think DB/DL is the biggest concern, I wouldn't mind another o-lineman either. Can't have too many good one of those.

I absolutely agree the 49ers need to fix their WR problem. Maybe Manningham is that man or Jenkins gains big ground. I think the 49ers want Jenkins to be the Julio Jones/Torrey Smith and be able to fill that 2nd rank/roll of blowing the top off defenses. If Manningham stays healthy I think he'll be alright with Crabtree. I'd really like to see Jenkins bust out and show why he was drafted #1.
