Ginn is old news... but wow Jacobs? 1yr deal, how interesting. Hunter is a workhorse still and can pick up where Gore is kinda a big bang and rest dude. 3 backs, one bruiser, maybe save Gore for the 2nd half? Dude didn't run so great.. but the 49ers only payin near 2mil for a season, average backup pay, good deal if Jacobs can actually run hard inside with authority... not like he's been runnin' so well as of late.

I should be a GM.
Seriously. The niners have literally done EVERYTHING I thought they should be doing and in some cases with the exact guys I had in mind. Jacobs is a PERFECT pick up for the niners. Now they have a guy that can bang the ball, catch the ball and he's a solid guy in the locker room.
And Jacobs has been just fine. He's not even 30 yet and his miles are low because he's been in a 2/3 backfield his entire career. He's carried the ball no more than 225 times a year for his ENTIRE career. I personally think he has been misused. I think him being around Gore is going to be a good thing. Help him work on his north south running. Jacobs seems to forget that he's bigger than damn near everyone on the field... ESPECIALLY if you get him into the second and third levels.
I think the'll be used correctly and what this will lead to is 3 fresh backs going in to the post season and a VERY balanced attack. Defenses can't key on Gore or VD anymore.
Plus... the dude can block. And that means the V.D. can go out more often for passes. He gets stuck blocking a LOT because he's so valuable in that slot.
Plus... would you really want to tackled this dude...

Agreed. I think he dances too much. That's why I think the niners system and Frank Gore are going to be PERFECT for him.
He's always been surrounded by guys like Tiki and brandshaw. Dancers/slicers.
I think if they are smart about carries with the 3 backs they're using the niners could be in the top 3 NFC teams in running... easy and if Alex can put up 220-240 yards a game... they're scary. Big time scary. Come out and hit you with heavy runs and play action early. THen just grind you to death in the 4th.

He's taken everything a lot and still shows so much class.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith joined in the search for missing California teenager Sierra LaMar on Saturday, Bay Area News Group reported.
Smith and 580 other volunteers searched for the 15-year-old, who disappeared March 16 while on her way to school in Morgan Hill, a city located southeast of San Jose.
"He wasn't there for attention. He was there to search," said Marc Klaas, founder of the KlaasKids Foundation. "It was about his heart. It's certainly a touching thing, and it's a huge thing, too. By showing up, he provided a value that went well beyond his own presence as a searcher."
Klaas confirmed that Smith was part of the search. Smith brought food and water, then helped look through the fields, hills and neighborhoods that are within a 20-mile radius of the teen's home.
"For somebody of that stature to take his own initiative and do something like this, to show that he cares about the family and the community, I'm just thrilled, and I imagine Sierra LaMar's family is, too," Klaas said. "It shows you the kind of person Alex Smith must be."

Darren Rovell's photo "New Nike Jerseys For @BUFFALO..." on WhoSay
It may not be the front of the uniform (heck it's not even technically the uniform they were trying to show in the picture), but at least you can see that the new uniforms still look very recognizable and don't look like they have really changed much.
This however does show the front with Alex wearing it.

I'm glad they didn't pick this one from Nike as it looks too much like a USC uniform and not enough like the 49ers, but it shows a bit of how extreme they were getting with their ideas.

I'm not trying to promote bounty... but people get psyched up for the game the time with aggressive talk.
"It's time to take some heads off!" or "Who's gonna give me the first 'ooo0000' hit?" like Ronny Lott.
I mean in reality Williams could say what he wanted, but the players would probably know it's just a way to get psyched up.Everyone is always going to hit hard, that's the nature of the sport, it's bred on violent hits. Goldson will always crack someone hard, same with Rogers, same with Whitner. All of that is what we want to see. Now things that are dirty are obvious, like Bill Romanowki breaking Kerry Collin's jaw or horse collar tackles to break a leg/ankle.
I compare it to listening to Eminem killing someone in his music while I lift weights.
Just a way to get pumped on adrenaline and accomplish a goal. The goal I'm sure for many of the Saints players was to win the game, jar the ball loose. I'm too skeptical to think, even after listening to the halftime talk, that the pay was intent to injure.
I think the intent was to psyche dudes up. Like "We'll see if that little Williams WR is here to play or fadaway"
How about Crabtree? Maybe it worked for him? He went to the hotel and didn't show up for some of the games. Was he a premadonna? Who cares? I doubt that saying "hit him hard" doesn't make people "hit harder" lol. They're going to hit as hard as they want either way.
And for a measly few grand to "injure" and "sideline" someone, that's a gamble no football player would ever bid on. Why would you try to break someone's knee or bust someone's spine for a few grand when you make millions, that just makes zero sense.
So when someone says "Who's gonna get the first ooo000 hit?" Compared to "I'll pay 5grand to whoever gets the first oooOOO hit" are different in the matter that the $$ wasn't taxable by some people and they didn't get a part of it seems fishy to me. Reminds me of how our society works, prostitution is illegal because government doesn't get $$ from it. But adults have sex all the time for free. Iono, whatever.
