For anyone who wants to know of any good offroading places in the sierra nevada, here's a good book for you:

That's a great book for the adventurous, but I've gotten lost a number of times at dubious intersections (which way is the correct 'main' direction?) and such that were not described in the book.

In contrast, the BackCountry Adventures books include descriptions of EVERY intersection, side road, land mark, etc. WITH GPS coordinates for each of those, AND reverse directions in case you want to do the route the other way.
