Honestly theres no need for coils. Look how fast Huck is and he is on stock struts with Swift springs.
I'd highly recommend getting used to the car and then as you get better start upgrading stuff. I wish I would have started autocrossing before my STI was all crazy modded.
You can run T2-SM which will keep you away from the big boys with slicks and all the mods you can imagine.

Coils are overrated. But really good tires can go a very long way.

No, according to the 2013 rules you cannot.
Page 74 states the tires must be DOT approved. Slicks are not typically.

You can run any DOT approved tire in stock class, which includes R-comps.

Absolutely. That's why T1 exists.

Fair enough. I guess I am just loving my springs a struts too much. And I had a pretty crappy experience with some crappy coilovers.

Hmm... Interesting. I was told that they're Hoosiers which are DOT approved. I was more concerned about the wheels. It was on Enkei PF01s. I gotta figure out if they are stock size though.

I understand everything you guys are saying. Wish I had gotten into it before I went crazy with upgrading the turbo. I'm currently running on Star Specs, which I believe reflect my time decently since they did allow me a lot more grip than a normal A/S tire. I will more than likely doing the next event with the same modifications due to all that you are saying.
So I am able to run in SM T2 to be a bit more competitive? Sounds good to me!

I was bone stock when I first started autox last year. . I feel like I did much better in my stock car than my modded car after this event because I basically have to learn how to drive it all over again lol >.<'
Hopefully I will do better after I get the hang of the car now. .
