They used a lot of racial slurs to make fun of Tsunami victums while they are going through a tough time!!
I hope people make fun of those who created it and laugh at them when they are going through things like that too!!
So Sad!!!

The only reason why folks make fun of Asians is because we never do anything about it. Make fun of blacks or Latinos, and you got a riot on your hands. Seriously...

Radio station pulls show over tsunami slur
HOT 97 morning show ridiculed victims
Wednesday, January 26, 2005 Posted: 2:08 PM EST (1908 GMT)
NEW YORK (Reuters) -- The entire staff of the New York radio show "Miss Jones in the Morning" was taken off the air on Wednesday after broadcasting a song that ridiculed victims of the tsunami in South Asia, the radio station said.
New York FM radio station WQHT, or HOT 97, repeatedly ran the segment last week on the show, hosted by deejay Tarsha Nicole Jones who uses the on-air name Miss Jones.
Jones and her team were suspended indefinitely, according to publicist Lizzie Grubman, who declined to say whether Jones would feature in another show at a later date.
"What happened is morally and socially indefensible," said Rick Cummings, president of Emmis Radio. The station is owned by Emmis Communications Corp.
"All involved, myself included, are ashamed and deeply sorry. I know the members of the morning show are truly contrite. They know their actions here are inexcusable," Cummings said in a statement.
The piece used racial slurs to describe people swept away in the disaster, made jokes about child slavery and people watching their mothers die.
"You can hear God laughing, 'Swim you b**ches swim,' " was one line in the song, sung by staff of the show to the melody of the 1985 famine relief song "We Are the World."
On Monday, the hip-hop and R&B radio station and the deejay apologized and the seven-member morning show crew agreed to donate one week's pay to relief efforts. The tsunami struck on December 26, leaving nearly 300,000 dead or missing around the Indian Ocean from Somalia to Thailand.
The incident is not the first time HOT 97 has been accused of racism and poor taste. The station made headlines when deejay Star, now at another radio station, called Jennifer Lopez a "rice-and-bean eater" and satirized the plane crash that killed R&B singer Aaliyah in 2001.

oh, and they also lost Sprint, McDonalds, and Jackson Hewitt as sponsors:
---
New STATEMENT FROM SPRINT
* Because the tsunami parody content on the Hot 97 program was in violation of our company standards, Sprint intends to suspend its advertising on the station.
The following information was issued previously:
* Sprint does NOT have any connection to the Tsunami Song aired on Hot 97 FM.
* Sprint strongly objects to any communication or other effort making light of the devastation of the tsunami disaster. The content of the "Tsunami song" clearly runs contrary to Sprint's commitment to diversity and inclusion, and is not in any way supported or condoned by Sprint. Needless to say, our hearts go out to the tsunami victims and their families -- for this and other reasons, the Sprint Foundation and our associates have worked together since the tsunami tragedy to raise funds for disaster relief efforts and will continue to do so.
*Sprint has purchased advertising time on Hot 97 but was incorrectly identified as a sponsor of the segment of the show in which the song was referenced. In any case, Sprint was unaware and had no connection to the content of the "Tsunami Song."
*Sprint has expressed our strong concern about this content to the radio station. The station has issued a public apology and appears to have disciplined the responsible parties. Sprint continually evaluates acceptable content against our own guidelines and we will continue to monitor the process with all outlets in which we advertise.
and from Mcdonalds:
Thank you for taking the time contact McDonald's. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to you regarding the recent events involving hosts from the Hot 97 morning radio program in New York.
First, McDonald's does not support programs that discriminate or are
insensitive to the plight of people suffering from devastating events.
Starting immediately, McDonald's will indefinitely suspend advertising
on the Hot 97 morning show.
It's also important to know that Ronald McDonald House Charities,
McDonald's Corporation and the McDonald's family around the world have
donated more than two million dollars to the Tsunami relief efforts.
We take these matters very seriously and will continue to work together to help victims of this devastating disaster.
Again, thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to your
concerns.

Jackson Hewitt's Response:
Dear Sir/Madam:
We respect and share in your concerns regarding the truly insensitive
and inappropriate behavior of the show's hosts and the airing of the
offensive song. Please be aware that Jackson Hewitt Tax Service does
not endorse or approve of such behavior and had no input or prior knowledge as to the content of the broadcast that aired last week
during the "Miss Jones in the Morning" program.
In fact, we have already contacted station owners and management to express our concerns and to inform them that we have withdrawn our advertising and support from the "Miss Jones in the Morning" program.
We acknowledge that the station has posted an apology, but certainly do not believe that that is enough, considering the serious nature of this matter. Thus we have called upon the station's owners and management to further review this program and its allowance of such behavior.
We thank you for taking the time to reach out to us on this serious matter.
Respectfully,
Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. Management

As a third generation Asian American I'm fully aware of this never ending racism our people face. Alot of us here have had generations of family members dating back to the the beginning expansion of this country and yet we still get no respect as a people. They say food is a great judge on a country's history because it makes up a part of its culture. You can go to any city in this nation and be able to order Chinese food and to me that is an excellent way of stating a simple fact that we have been here a long time. But honestly when you look at main stream America we can only be associated with stupid stigmas like a William Hung, women in the movies that play the typical Asian *****, or some ridiculous crap like we all know how to do laundry. I guess mostly I'm just ranting but hopefully events like this will be a catalyst to make people more aware.
