newbie question...installing exhaust with few equipments

okay, so all I have are some jacks and your standard 100 piece Craftsmen tool set. Is it too difficult to install an uppipe and a turboback with just this stuff? I mostly concerned about getting underneath the car....cause I've replaced the tranny on a Nissan P/U with just the craftsmen. I worried about not getting enough ground clearance to get underneath properly (whatever that means).

PS. Recommend me a quiet dual tip turbo/catback? I'll probably go with a Helix uppipe.

Have you checked out ScoobyMods.com, yet? They have model-specific tutorials with pics of many common mods.

Not hard at all. Infact you will need 2 14mm open/box end wrenches, 14 mm socket w/ratchet and needed extensions, and a 22mm for the 02 sensor in the DP. I think the EGT in the up-pipe is a 12mm...cant think right now. Maybe a breaker bar or pipe to go over the ratchet...just in case. And a Flat tip screwdriver, and small sockets for the lil clamps for the turbo coolant lines.

I might be missing something....but I think thats about it. Oh and about 2-3 hrs.

cool...good to know it's not too bad. i figure if I can dismantle a transmission I can handle the exhaust....but I was just afraid of not having enough room underneat to work. should I get some ramps?

I just use the smaller jackstands, on the lowest setting. It's esier to get to some of the DP/turbo bolts that way...for me at least!! Remember, if it's up to high...it makes it a little more difficult, as you are laying down in weird angles to reach bols and nuts.

Be patient too, sometimes aftermarket DP's can be a pain. The way they make some of them, the nuts may be harder to put on and tighten...but not impossible.

You will also have to loosen your headder to get the up-pipe off and on. But thats easy...once you get a look at it. I believe you only need to loosen the (3) 14mm bolts on the passenger side (near the block) but take off the smaller section that is connected to the up-pipe....I'm sure you know...sorry

Have some good soap/hand cleaner as you will be dirty LOL

Afain, I have done this a few time...since I amways change my set-up....I do it in about 2 hrs. So, be ready for that at least.

Let us know how it turns out.
