"Newbie" First Post!!
Sup BAIC...
This is my first post Im from the Honda-Tech board, Looks like I'll be joining the I-club now. I used to own a 2000 Type-R before it got stolen by some ignorant people, totalled and stripped.
So Im currently in the market for a WRX..Im looking for a white or silver color, in a 4dr sedan. This is going to be a brand new experience for me changing from a front wheel drive to an all-wheel drive. I've always admired the WRX for its speed and looks. When it came down to my old Type R, I knew which was the right way for modifications, such as all-motor, or turbo. But the WRX is a totally different ball-game, there are so many different mods and combinations, such as up-pipes, downpipes, faster turbo's(vf's)...etc....
My main goal is to drive the WRX stock for a while, trying to get the feel for the car and learning every aspect of it. Then doing little by little.
My question is what is the normal "first" modification to a WRX, any word of advice??
what can I expect from a WRX?
thanks guys

ha ha hondatech! i remember that board...
anyways yes your right this wrx is WAY different then our old hondas and for me its been real hard to get use to working on this car as its so different in so many ways...
as some first mods id suggest the silencer removal, and rear adjustable lower sway bar...
this car is awesome and i suggest some bad *** driving on some real cool twisty roads and some snow bound road trips... that will definitely make you fall inlove with this car
welcome bro and good luck

Hmm...you could start with a little suspension work. Sure, the WRX handles fairly well off the bat, but a little more improvement wouldn't hurt, especially since your last car was an ITR. I take it you used to frequent the Type R forums on H-T right? I know my friend used to send me links to that part of the forum for tire and suspension advice since I used to own an Integra. The last time I used to frequent that board, a lot of that board is like, "OMG WEHRE YUO GET THAT JDM (insert random item that does nothing here) FROM!?" and then throw tomatoes at anyone with a body kit. LOL.

Welcome,
But realize a name like that will get some people instantly forming an opinion of you that is... err... less than desirable?
I mean I have no idea who you are, or what kind of person you are, but the first thing I said to myself when I saw the post was something like 'yeah, we can tell you're a newbie by the leet-speak name'
So there is a certain prejudice that will happen with a name like that. Some will turn that prejudice into bigotry. I guess all I'm saying is that you may catch flak from having such an immature looking name, mainly because the Subaru crowd is on a whole a little more mature than the honda crowd... not everyone, but on average I don't think that can be denied.
As for first mods there are a few good ones, no ONE is THE mod:
- IC hoses (easy to perform yourself, familiarizes you with removing and replacing the TMIC, helps spool dramatically, not so much the top end HP)
- Tires
- Rear sway bar
- Programmable engine management like an ECU re-flash, which will up the boost, especially in the top end.
- Brake Pads
- High Performance Driving Class

Welcome aboard. Don't let some of the angrier regulars get to ya.
Life here's not too bad at all. Just run a search before asking any questions, in case we've covered the subject before. To make life easier on you, don't ask about cold air intakes EVER, and only ask about short ram intakes when you plan to: 1.) Get a front mount intercooler, 2.) Get an aftermarket turbo, 3.) Run over 300 horsepower.
As for a first mod, get nicer tires and a set of lightweight 17's too, if it's economically feasible. If not, no biggie, the stock 16's are strong and quite lightweight (16.5 lbs each)
Come out to some meets when you have time too. When you meet us in person, you'll realize we're not all a buncha elitist @$$holes We were all n00b's at one time or another haha. Hope to see you around (BTW, I'm the local JDM freak so if have any related questions...)

Yea, don't worry about your name. You don't type like a retard anyway and you type perfectly fine. So who cares? Oh yea, what part of the Bay Area are you from? There's awesome weekly meets all over the Bay, so feel free to stop by any of them and check out other peoples' cars for ideas. One of the people might even give you a ride so you can do a butt-dyno test!
