Don't want to get flack, i know mobil 1 may not be the greatest but I never burned it in my old sti I put 45k on or my old wrx.

Douchebag mobil1 finally ditched the 4 quart container (you buy that +1 quart) for a 5.2

I misread and thought it was 5 even.

Brucelee I think i'll just let it out. Unfortunately all my tools+ramps are in the east bay, not down south with me and I'm working to the max. Had I been at home in east bay when I realized I used 5.2, I woulda just drained it really quickly.

So one kind of oil will burn in your motor but another brand will not? Never heard anything like that before - interesting. Are they the same weights? Similar usage intent?

To the OP: I would not worry about it and I would leave it. My previous EJ20 equipped car powered through a qt in about 3k miles. I have another car that burns/leaks/absconds with oil and I usually over-fill that one a little bit.

Also I run Mobil1 in my daily driver (manufacturer recommended right on the oil cap) and have never had a problem in any car of mine running Mobil1. I have a friend who tells me that's garbage and I should only use Swepco but I think that's because his mechanic sells Swepco more than anything (yes I know it's a great product).

^^ you drive a GTO?
I know my cousins GTO has that printed on his oil cap, sucks you have to buy expensive oil every time.

yea dude just do that....

also you can get some tubing that is the width of your dipstick and just suck some out thru there.... dont swallow though hahaha

the drain plug method isnt as good because before you know it you've drained a full quart or whatever... Its hard to be accurate.

I let it out, definitely feel better. Doubt the 150 miles harmed it, didn't see any oil or anything. Good call.

I'd run it (I've run 5 quarts a bunch of times with no problems)

if you're super afraid you can borrow my fluid transfer pump and pump it out of your dipstick hole

ive run 5.0 before as well, but never 5.2+you dont get ever last bit out. It was reading very highly on the dipstick. I was stoked. I went to an oil change 2 blocks from my work before making the commute home. They were about to close at 7 in 15 minutes, after telling the dude my situation he had me pull over their batcave (no lifts), drained some oil then let me measure then drained a little more. Washed it all off underneath doing a prime job. Did it super fast wouldn't take payment. Worked well for me
