If this is true, then the engineers who design (F)****d (O)ver (R)etarded (D)ork vehicles must have finally invaded the last bastion of good engineering that Mazda had. It's sad to see that company go down to becoming a wasted heap of crap in the tradition of all FORD products.

Mazda used to have their handling down COLD. Their suspensions would definitely be one of the strongest selling points if I were in the market...but alas, if FORD has gotten to them, then I'm sure the handling has gone to crap, just like the rest of anything FORD touches.

Ford only knows how to go in circles on a track...at least on anything they build or have available here. I hope Mazda hasn't been sucked into this too.

The Mazda 6 is a joke. I test drove the original 6 with the 5 speed transmission. The whole car is so cheap and it drives (more like floats over the road) and feels like an American car. The engine is FORD all over it as does the rest of the car.

Yeah, the Mazdaspeed is better but given the car's roots and the overall bad reviews on it, I'll pass. I'll give them that the car looks ok, but that's it. And I have yet to see one actually on the road... I can see dealerships trying to give the car away with these deals given how they are selling.

I've driven the Mazda 3 (2005 model), and combined with the sportshift transmission, that thing handled like a champ. I work for a Mazda/Subaru dealership, and took this thing out on roads like S.F. Drake, into Nicasio, around to Pt. Reyes Station and back.

If the Mazdaspeed 6 handles anything like its little brother (the Mazda 3), then it should be selling better. Maybe it's more about the marketing (and lack thereof) that Mazda puts into their performance based products.

BTW, I'd love to take one out to test drive behind you, ZK...I bet you'd be hard pressed to lose me on Fairfax-Bolinas Rd.

yeah..they might handle like **** from the factory and blah blah, but i am sure that given some aftermarket modifications and what not, it will do pretty well for a sporty street car.

Well, OBVIOUSLY if you don't agree with anything Road & Track then why say it's not what you've read. No **** sherlock. #2 I'm sorry, but have you auto-X or tracked the car? Does the dealership let you drive like that when you test drive it? If you do, you're a ****ing dumbass who is just ****ing up the car for the future purchaser. If you haven't driven it like that, you can't really say you've driven it to it's potential either, while I'm sure R&T have gotten a lot closer than you ever have.

So honestly, I'm sure your test drive shows very little about the true potential of the car in it's stock form. Why did you bring up the point if I've driven it or not? Since it really doesn't show you anything about performance unless you want to **** up the car.

Fairfax-Bolinas? Where's that? I rarely get to drive test drive cars fast. It's usually down the street, gun it a bit onto the highway and then cruise back to the dealership. The only exception was when I tested the new Legacy 2.5GT. The guy handed me the keys and told me to come back in 30 minutes.

I can see the 3 as a good car. The 6 though... I can see it improved over the previous model but it's so floaty I felt like I was driving a boat. Even the Camry feels sportier. This is the regular 6 as I mentioned before. I'd love to test drive the Mazdaspeed... but I'm not really wow'd by it.

The sales person was kinda funny. He owned a Mustang Cobra. He was sitting in the back seat. When I gunned it a bit, he said wow, I never sat in a 5 speed before, it has some kick. I almost laughed out loud. He owned a Cobra and thought the 6 had some kick!?

On one of my many visits to Carlsen with my '03 WRX, I was given a Mazda6 as a rental. This was a fairly basic cloth interior auto 4cyl model. I was so impressed with the way the car handled and drove that I seriously considered simplifying my life by selling the WRX and getting a Mazda6. I was really impressed. I only had the car for a week, but I went down 9 a few times and a few other places. It was really a nice driving, well sorted car. I can't even imagine how nice the Mazdaspeed 6 must be. I would never get one and think it would compete with an STi or an Evo - it's a different car. I bet it's pretty sweet though.. And.. When you yank the handbrake, the ECU disengages the center diff thereby freeing the rear wheels. How cool is that! That's like Mazda saying "we have included a feature to allow you to drive like a nut and not damage your car."

I would love to check out an Acura RL, but if I couldn't afford one my next choice would be the Mazdaspeed6. I sat in one at Mazda in Hawaii and I was very impressed with the interior. Seems like a sweet machine.

you can't see anything in that video. all it is a high speed test ride.

i'll say that the mazdaspeed 6 looks like a decent car. but why are you pushing a sale so hard? why don't you just buy one? you don't need to convince anybody here to buy one.

Car and Driver says "The Mazdaspeed 6 will speak to those who find a well-equipped Audi A4 Quattro too pricey and a Mitsubishi Evo too raw."

So I guess if that is what you want, this is the right car for the job - watered down performance and luxury aspirations.

Go drive it and see. I'm sure its a decent car but it's one of those cars that is just middle of the road - it doesn't excel in anything. I wouldn't mind having one if I wasn't as interested in performance. More a around town daily car with some oomph.
