I noticed a lot of rally cars run 4 lug patterns, but it seems to change rally to rally. Some rallies they run 5 and some they run 4. Anyone w/ any info why would be appreciated.

FIA timing runs from arrival control to arrival control, so if you have to change a wheel or tire on transit that eats into your running time- so every second does count.
One thing that really surprised me was seeing Tony Gardermeister come into the area just befor the control zone for stage 6 and break out the jack to bleed the breaks, the crappy jack he had seemed to be a total struggle to get to work, he probably lost a good 30 seconds to a minute in getting the car up in the air.
note to Ford, get your guys better jacks!
I had hoped to put together a full report with lots of pictures for you guys, but I came home to an e-mail telling me that my dear friend and neighbor who had been house and kitty sitting for me while I was down there died Saturday morning, so I'm still pretty much blown away by that tragic twist of fate and it will be a while- if ever- before I'll get that together.
But I have to say going down there, working the event and experiencing the whole WRC circus first hand is a total must for anyone who appreciates the sport, I spent Saturday chasing around and supporting one of the WRC video crews, now Nicky Grist knows me and always stops to say hi when he sees me, it was probably the most exciting, entertaining and educational week of my life.
And Daniel, Mexico really isn't so bad- just start each meal with a shot of Cazadores to kill the bacteria, don't eat any lettuce or "fresh" veggies, and its really a great place, lots of beautiful senoritas, and probably some of the best rally roads on the planet.
It's the closest stop the WRC makes to the states, and if you work it you get to go to the most outrageous party Sunday night.
I expect there are a few people still recovering from that.....
