I think like Autozone does rental on spring compressors and they give your money back when you return it...
if that is an option for you

It's a 96' LX. However, it has RS struts and Eibach springs on them. I needed the compressor to get them on...i think? Isn't there a tremendous amount of force stored in the springs when the tophats are on?

honestly, on these car with the stock springs the top hats jump maybe 3 inchs or so after the top nut is taken off. Just keep your hand on the top hat and it will be fine

Now, if there are aftermarket lowering springs on these struts, then the top hat would have LESS force acting against the top hat.

I've worked on 2.5 rs suspensions before and had no need for my spring compressors.

Hopefully this helps

Ok, I'll give it a go. The reason I'm doing this, is because I think they are upside down. The more tightly wound part of the coil is on the bottom. Am I correct in thinking the tight coils should be at the top of the strut?

There's one at your school lil buddy. By the big shop door. Ask one of the 101 teachers, they'll set you up. Just like I set up your mom.

I don't need it anymore. I've verified my springs are on correctly and everyone else is fulluvit. I know we have them at school. The WyoNazis aren't too fond of people working on things outside of their phase. Thanks Ed.
