For the 6 months last year I was in Hawaii I didn't have health insurance because I couldn't afford it. It's crazy, but it's true. That sucked especially since I was working construction and driving around scissors lifts, forklifts and frequently doing dangerous stuff. America is weird that way. Back with an employer so I have insurance again. Auto insurance for the last 12 years running (DAMN).
