Need Some Help i-Clubbers!~ (Transmission Fluid)
Hello guys, today for the first time, I changed the transmission fluid and the differential fluid besides doin oil changes and changing worn head/fog lights.. Anyways here is the issue. You guys know how that hole to fill the transmission is really hard to reach without removing the intercooler?? ( I managed to MacGuyver a hose attachment to a funnel and worked my way around after 10 minutes of frustration and beer ) I accidently leaked some tranny fluid, and when I went for a test drive to see if theres any leaks , I noticed it starteed smoking around the downpipe area near the tranny filler hole thingy.. Anyways I was wondering if this is a big issue such as damage to parts and wiring etc, or can i just clean this up some how?? im working on this in my garage right now, looked nasioc looked scoobymods and couldnt get a quick answer.. Any imput on this would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!!

brake clean is your best friend when you spill oil in your engine bay! just spray it down and drive it around for an hour or 2 and you should be fine. make sure you have enough fluid in the tranny and diff if you spilled some

P.S : I think some got on the cv boot?? or is it the axle... Sigh ...

ALot of crap is on there.. black grime and gunk and goo, im guessing from what you're saying, those two areas are irrelevant to damage in such ways?? correct me if i'm wrong .. Thanks again

Clean it off if it bothers you, otherwise the smoke might last a while depending on how much you spilled Should be fine in terms of damage, some people practically hose* their engine bay with water to clean it -- so I think a little oil should be fine. Not to mention I've seen Subies go through some deep puddles.
(*I'm too scared to try this.)
BTW, I use clear tubing that's slightly smaller than the filler/dipstick hole. No leaks if you poor slowly!

-Is this safe to do without damaging anything? (my engine bay is dirty)
""BTW, I use clear tubing that's slightly smaller than the filler/dipstick hole. No leaks if you poor slowly! ""
- I tried using all sorts of sizes of hoses and length... tried cutting the damn garden hose to fit ( got yelled at by momma for cutting hahahahaha) , some hoses i found from the kitchen, another hose from a bike pump.. It would've been a bigger PITA without any brew...
Anyways, Thanks guyys
