Need some diagnostic help - worn clutch?

I'm having what I think is a clutch problem and am wondering if anyone in the San Francisco area (I live in the City) would be able to meet with me and help me diagnose the problem.

This thread describes what is going on:

Thanks much.

SF? I guess your closest bet would be AHQ, otherwise you have Speed Element, GST, and LIC...

Being in SF, I think he might be closer to LIC. They'll figure it out for sure.

you say the rpms lower then come back on?

if your clutch was slipping, they'd rise, then drop as the tachometer measures how fast the engine is spinning, not how fast the gears are spinning.

edit: then again, maybe you're not realizing exactly how fast the RPMs are climbing until they drop to normal when you're on it.

Got an appointment with Noah at LIC on Friday, but was looking for someone closer so I don't have to hike my *** all the way up to Novato.

Try Auto Dynamik in SF:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/auto-dynamik-san-francisco

But if you feel that your clutch is slipping, see if the car will die as it's in first gear and you let the clutch out slowly. If it slips and doesn't die, then your clutch is going bad. For most clutch repairs, the flywheel may or may not need replacing and that's what could double your repair cost.
