Need a little help with info on a Red Light cam ticket
Alright so about two weeks ago I was driving in Hayward. Hesperian and A street if that matters. I came up to a red light that had just turned from yellow to red. I did a california roll and say people were turning so I continued my right turn. Next thing you know Kanye's flashing lights turned on and im a movie star lol. Ok so do these things hold up in court? or if i fight it will it maybe get thrown out or reduced cause I mean the ticket is 500. Ok any info would help. Thanx.

Nope, my mom had the exact same thing happen to her, but it was in San Mateo I believe. You can try to fight it, but you'll likely end up paying the 500 anyway. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this?

yea tons of people dont realize that even making a right turn you have to make a complete stop first at a red light. or else youre running it.
does the picture clearly show that its you? i say goto court anyways and see if you can get it reduced.

Yeah the ticket shows me clearly. What im gonna try and say is that I stopped at the light and then I went through the Intersection. The only thing is that the camera says i was going 15mph at the light and 15 thru the turn. I have a escort radar detector and I never made a sound. so I dont know im gonna try and say a faulty camera? or speed sensor?

the problem is, most red light cameras nowadays are equipped with digital video to determine if the driver stopped completely. It's also to determine whether or not the red light camera went off accidentally, as some can be oversensitive.

my friend has gotten 3 of them and at each camera he held his hand up to cover his face. when he went to court, he just asks, "Is that me?" and if the judge isn't sure, he's let go with no charge. worked 3/3 times.

I heard that before the ticket is sent out, each ticket is reviewed by some people. So if you got a ticket the best bet is to go to court and to have the judge reduce the fine. Good luck.
Maybe it's time for the red light camera app?

I believe most red light cameras also take video - it should say so on the ticket (mine did from 4 years ago). Court admin told me that fines cannot be reduced for camera light tickets.
