all the test i have read the evo wins in a all out race
but as far as quality and workmanship the STI is a better choice
interior quality fit and trim are all better on the STI
hope that helps a little i know its not much but i bought a subaru over a mitsubishi...
another thing the evo has is a better warranty.
road and track and many many others have done the same testing to see which car is better, tell her to hit up the library and research those articles for some good info.

I think you can argue that the STI is better, but for certain things. I'd have to admit that based on all my reading, that the EVO is probably more competent at the track. But since 95% of my mileage is on the street, the STI, with the lower boost/bigger engine and more forgiving suspension is probably the better car. I think the fact that we can run lower boost due to the 2.5L motor bodes well for longevity. Also, I like the rush of torque that the bigger motor provides.
That being said, I probably would have chosen an EVO except that Mitsubishi is somewhat unstable at the moment, and I didn't want to deal with any potential warranty problems... a la clutch problems.

The build of the STi is top notch, the Evo is not so top notch, so I've heard at least. My friend is having problems with his Evo and he's only had it for 6 months, no abuse either. I've had my STi for 2 years now, no abuse either, and no problems. Build issues? I think so. I would look into that and attack from there. Also look at the numerous problems that Mitsubishi's have had in general. When all else fails, use this provided picture.
