Smile Need Help Please

Hello, my 02 WRX is in need of a tuneup and I want to put in a colder spark plug but knowbody seems to know what NGK number I should be buying. So what I need to know is what plug is everyone using as a "cooler" plug? Please help...

Thanks
Scott

no part # but 7 is the one step colder plug that most modded EJ20T's run. 6 is stock heat range.

Thank you for the info, it seems that plug was never designed for a subaru so do I need to re-gap it?

Thanks again for the help.

Me too...those are the coppers. The iridium colder part number is BKR7EIX. Avoid the "-11"'s as they are a wide gap plug that is not designed to be gapped down as much as we need (0.028").

Good luck.

Ah...the BKR7E's are ~$3 each. I plan on changing mine every third oil change. (~10k miles)

The BKR7EIX's are ~$9 each!

Once again thank you all. It's great to have such a knowledge base. What kind of things did you notice with the cooler plugs. I have a stage two ECU from Cobb and have some hessitation at part throttle sometimes. Cobb thinks that the cooler plugs will probably help. Will I see any other advantages?

Thanks again

It's a shame this thread wasn't posted in the WRX Powerplant forum - a lot of people would've earned some Scooby Snacks toward an avatar (if you're into that sort of thing).

I didn't really notice much...just happy with the claimed increased resistance to detonation.
