Need help advise on Ticket.
Hi All,
Need some help here.. I got pull over couple days ago and after all the BS the CHIP did I got a state referee cert. required ticket. So I have to go to their Smog station and do the smog check.. .. (the chip found out I had no cats.) So I am planning to do it as they say.. replace my aftermarket stuff back to stock and go smog there.. But my question is that what if I don¡¦t even pass smog with all stock setting? And can I keep my N1 exhaust there?? Will the inspector fail that? Cuz the cop said.. ¡§I am not going to give you a ticket for your ¡§exhaust¡¨ only your ¡§cat¡¨. So can I just keep it there ?(cuz there is a part of my exhaust that is welded on. So it will be a little bit hassle to take it out.) Or just replace it in the safe side? What you guys think.. need some advise.
And am I going to have to do that Dyno Smog? Or just normal smog test still??
Please any useful advise is welcome. Thank you very much in advance.

Can do Smog Test Test
Not sure if they have smog dynos here yet, but you can always call the referee station and ask . . . .
And if you are concerned about passing, you can go to any smog station and ask for a "pretest." That is basically a smog test where they do not send in the information, and if you fail, there is no repercussions. You still have to pay the test fees, but it is a way to test your car before taking the real "test."
I always pay the $26 or so and pretest my car immediately before doing the actual smog test for registration renewal. That way, if I will fail, I can take care of things first and avoid having to go to the referee for the retest.
So my suggestion is that you call the referee station and find out what the test is, then just go to a local gas station and have a pretest done on your car.
I would suggest you get rid of every aftermarket part, even the exhaust (only noise regulations govern them, not emission regulations), just to be completely squeaky clean for the referee check.

pretty sure that the ref station in san jose doesn't have the dyno yet...I'd go there.
I'd call every ref station in the area and find one that doesn't have a dyno....the less they test the better.
definately get as much back to stock as possible...they check everything....if you have carb certifications for things you can use those and they will pass you but it's better not to chance it...might get a dick for an inspector. If you go to the one in San jose it's at sequia institute......I had students doing mine...usually they will over look whatever they can get by overlooking.
If you have a noise violation it is possible that they will check your exhaust with a decibel meter....they had one at the ref station...i was checking it out.
The ref will test your car.....if you fail it free to bring it back to retest for a certain amount of time....they will tell you what to fix....they you pay for the certificate.

how about in San Francisco? which is the station in SF and do they have a dyno?
i am thinking about hiding my manual boost controller.. under the intake box (i think it is possible since it is very small.) .. and how about turbo timer? that's not a problem right?

Trust me, 100% STOCK... and you will pass with flying colors...
The other alternative is to fail the visual, and then be classified as a gross pulluter... that's thousands of dollars in fines i'm sure.
