MY place just got broken into!

Wow I leave for 30 min. to drop off my girlfriend, I come home and my door is wide open with the frame in splinters! I ran out to my car to grab the closest thing to a weapon which was a D cell maglight, then checked my place.

I live in a small place so I only had to open one closed door, luckily the person had left and they didn't steal anything! My cat is refusing to come out from under the bed, and my front door barely closes.

Man this sucks, I doubt i'll be able to sleep with all this adrenaline.

wowzers, wouldn't hurt to call the cops just for fingerprints, etc. double check everything and hope nothing was secretly placed or installed <watching too many spy movies>

I live in campbell

I called the police, but I didn't think it was worth having a squad car sent over since I was positive the person was gone. The lady just asked if I was in any danger, if anything was stolen, and if I knew who did it. My answer to all was no

Be wary. The fact that you were only gone for a half-hour might mean that someone watched you leave...

I'm glad no one was hurt.

screw the handgun. they're too hard to hit people with, and don't have the stopping power to put down a home invader with one round. 'sides, to get a good one, it's expensive. now, the solution for home defense is simple: Remington 870 12ga shotgun. load it with 00 buck shot, and one round has the power of an entine 10-round magazine from a 9mm handgun with all the rounds hitting at once.

oh yeah, and its time for better locks.

where in Campbell do you live?

dang, sorry to hear about the break-in, but as others mentioned, at least you're okay.

Definitely tell your landlord to put in a more heavy duty door & lock (deadbolt). Unfortunately, crime goes up around the holidays.

Oh, and although this experience probably has you steamed and rattled, don't just go out and pick up a firearm unless you get an understanding of how to handle & store one. Improperly trained gunowners endanger not only themselves but innocent bystanders as well!
