MY CTS-V In-Car Video

I went to Sacramento Raceway in early November 2010 and ran the CTS-V down the track. First run is the video. Ran a 14.2 by babying the car. I made a few rookie camera mistakes and the remote didn't turn the camera on. Oh well. Here's the vid. Enjoy.

Other two vids of other cars at Sac Raceway the same day.

Yes I can't launch it like I want. Cadillac put a glass rear diff in the CTS-V. Unfortunately that is the weakest link. So launching it is almost impossible.

I have to look tonight. I think it was 101 mph.

The best launch I got of the day was a 2.2 60ft time. But shifting from 2nd to 3rd, the rear end began to hop up and down violently. And that's another cause of broken rear diff's. So I had to get out of it and then stab it again. I think that run was a 14.3

Wow. Didnt know the diffs were that weak!

I was considering a CTS-V or an E39 M5 to replace the STI when the baby comes.

The 06-07 CTS-V's were equipped with a beefier rear diff. But even those aren't fool proof. A lot of the problem is the rear wheel hop when the car digs for traction. What people are doing is getting hardened bushings so they don't flex and allow the diff to travel all over the place.

Another issue is the size of the axles and their relation to traction. Gforce Engineering has made an anti-wheel hop kit to combat this. They use staggered size axles. Check it out.

If I wasn't so scared in scattering the diff all over the track, I would have launched the hell out of the V. It is capable of at least mid 13 second passes stock.

I've been in Subarus for about 8 years now... time for something different . We are getting the wife an 05-06 LGT Wagon or Outback XT though, so we'll still have a subie in the family.

Yea.. that's what I'm leaning towards... 02-03 M5 costs about as much as my 06 STI is worth.
