Unhappy my car is acting weird..

i tried a search by i couldn't find anything on it... my search abilities are t3h suck right now..

last night on two seperate occassions, my car did something strange. coming around a corner, in second gear (rs tranny w. wrx motor).. my car shut down at about 3800-4200 rpm. not shut down like turned off, but the rpms stopped going even thought my foot was WOT. it was as if i took it out of gear and was no longer stepping on the gas.

could this be the ecu safegaurding my motor from a boost spaike that may have occured? i don't have a boost gauge yet, but i have a 3" turboback installed. any input on this?

tia,
james

When that happened to me - not my suby, my motorcycle - there was something blocking the air intake.

You could have a blockage on the air intake or the exhaust, both would prevent you from going. A stuck throttle body could do it too.

Can you go fast on the freeway? Did the problem go away?

hmm.. i'll check the intake

i'm thinking it was the fuel cut, but it didnt sputter at all, it just stopped accelerating and acted as if i were putting it back to idle rpm from a hard pull

If it was in a turn it was most likely fuel cut. Fill up your tank and see if the problem happens again.

James,

You know if there are any questions, you can just give us a call.

First, how much fuel is in the tank? Second, we're you making a right hand turn?

GC's are notorious for fuel slosh when below 1/3 tank and making right hand turns. If you didn't get any CEL, then this is most likely the cause. If you are actually overboosting, you will get a CEL for the Boost Solenoid, ECU doesn't think it's working properly.

Thanks, hope this helps,

-Adam

Ooops, just missed your post.

Honestly, don't spend your money on an EBC. Your $$$ would be better spent on Tuning to get the full potential of your setup and opens the doors to later mods.

Where are you located? I'd be happy to datalog the car and make sure everything is ok. If you can reproduce the issue while we're logging, it could give us a lot more insight on the problem.

Thanks
