So this new law bans the open carrying of handguns, correct? I don't see anything about not being able to open carry a long gun.

AR 15 would be OK?

Lets see how their super strict gun laws have worked in the past.

Modesto detectives investigating OIS
11:15 AM, Oct 11, 2011

MODESTO - Modesto detectives and crime scene investigators are on scene in the 900 block of Helen Avenue investigating an officer involved shooting Tuesday morning.
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - The man suspected of opening fire at a Northern California limestone quarry, killing three co-workers and injuring six, was shot and killed by authorities Thursday in a Silicon Valley neighborhood after a daylong manhunt.
ESCALON - San Joaquin County sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 24000 block of East Mariposa Road about 4:30 p.m. Sunday for a shooting.
It would seem as though restricting guns from the law abiding citizens is going well! /sarcasm.

Also.

@ the guy who said what would a gun do in a store when a guy wants to rob it and relieves you of your gun, YOU ARE AN IDIOT!

If you know anything about people doing dirt, they aren't about to hit a store where they see someone with a gun. They will wait until the person leaves.... THEN hit the store......
This is the problem with the way pro-gun folks are represented: They are usually a seen as a bunch of out of control clowns. I can see what scared dumb people think when they see some crazy ******* going off on a news camera about his Second Amendment rights... "I don't want THAT guy to have a gun at all!!" Granted the news will always look for the craziest person they can to slant the story in favor of whoever backs the news station, but anyway....

The point of open carry is that in a situation such as that, there would be several more gun toting civilians once the person mentioned left I was at an In and Out outside Pheonix a few months ago and a couple older guys were carrying. I GAURANTEE

I am going to make the assumption those FOR gun control for law abiding citizens have never looked at any research material involving the subject however....
So I'll give you a pass for ignorance....
When you find yourself in the situation where a gun would be nice.... or the guy next to you on the ground having a gun would be nice..... Don't jump ship...
Just remember you backed the idea.
Idiot.
When you don't have a logical argument to make, resort to calling names. Brilliant. I'm NOT in agreement with the ban on open carry.

However, I merely asked what good open carry is going to do in that situation. If I'm the bad guy going in to rob the convenience store, I'm going to disarm the guy carrying the gun FIRST - and drop him if need be, in order to carry out the robbery. It nets me an extra gun and more ammunition.

Idiot.
Stores get robbed even when they know the owner is packing. Only difference is the criminal doesnt bother with the whole "gimme your money". He starts off shooting and runs away with the register and the owners handgun.

Meh I am on board with wait til the other guy with a gun leaves. That lets the guy behind the register get their gun out when you disarm the other guy.

As to the whole rural california/unincorporated areas, didnt you guys just have cops hunt a man down near some base that was popping off people? You have less crime due to less population and a better sense of community. Guns help and are a deterrent but thats not the only reason you guys have low crime rate.

Well your right to BEAR ARMS is written in the constitution so you have to be able to carry them.... otherwise COTUS will use their strong hand, well they should but they won't because they love obama and obama hates guns.

a guy I know signed up for a state medical marijuana card and just got a letter from atf informing him to get rid of his firearm within 90 days.

they are simply disarming people because they are planning many busts

or

they realize marijuana users aren't being convicted so making the firearm illegal gives them something to convict on.
