Moonbeam bans open carry of handguns

California Gov. Jerry Brown on Sunday signed a bill banning the open carrying of handguns in public, making California the fifth U.S. state to do so.

California State Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, who authored the bill, told Hotsheet in an interview that the law was a natural way to prevent gun violence.

Citing instances where law enforcement members are called out to investigate individuals carrying guns, Portantino said "men and women in uniform are put at risk unnecessarily when they're called out to investigate" open carry proponents.
Wow...

So another law crippling the safety of law abiding citizens? What legal weapon holder intends to use it for violence?!

Those that use handguns for violence typically don't give a rats *** about the law.

GO FIGURE?!

Brown sucks

The ones who open carry, are the ones most likely to not harass LEOs.

Just curious - how does open carry make people safer? If you're in a store, and a suspect pulls a gun, can you pull your own weapon, load it, and properly aim and fire it before the suspect drops you in a hail of lead? If the suspect is nice to you, he'll relieve you of your weapon, now you've just given him a weapon and more ammunition...

...just saying. There are, of course, exceptions to this for those with enough time and training in tactical close quarters combat, and specialized training. I'm talking about the other 90% of the people who bought a gun, passed the basic safety course, and want to open carry the gun to assert their rights.

Speed loading exercises make for some INSANELY fast loads, both auto and revolver. And besides, if you don't take the perp out with the first two shots, you better duck.

What most people don't say is that open carrying allows a law.abiding citizen to to have a firearm JUST IN CASE something does happen...

Right now or whenever end this new law goes into effect, only a license to carry concealed is the only legal way to do so and good luck getting one these.

How hard is it to get licensed for concealed in CA?
