my coworkers give that to me and i gladly accept so as not to be rude. but i don't think it's taste is too appealing. i'm sure it's one of those learned tastes.

why's it soo expensive (aside from the fact that it's only fitting to give them away during the time of the moon festival?) is it made from rare ingredients?

i have no idea why it costs so much. my guess is because it's only eaten once per yr so vendors charge anything they want and people will still buy it.

your parents must buy the good stuff. I never saw a box of moon cake for that much. I know there is cheap stuff and the good stuff.

And yes moon cake is an aquired taste. Its not to bad if you give it a chance.

i question that recipe on that site...i don't remember the taste of strawberry jam in the moon cakes i've ever tasted. if anything was in it, it was mung bean or red bean... definitely no strawberry jam.

i tend to prefer the ones with lotus seed paste filling instead of the red bean paste, and especially ones with salty egg yolks in them. i think another factor that drives the prices is the # of egg yolks they have in each moon cake.

yes!! that's the one i've tried. the lotus seed paste filling and the salty egg yolk. i think it's the salty egg yolk that throws it off for me. i tried that egg yolk with juke (sp?) and it tasted really good with that. okay, back on topic...

tommy's bringing me some juke right now...i should ask him to stop by his house and pick up one of those eggs him mom sent him. YUMMY!!

Do you workout at Bally?

I thought I saw you once... but wasn't sure if it was you because I suck at remembering faces, and wish I got hit by a missle.

I love that stuff. I just hate the egg yolk. I hate the cheap ones that are practically tasteless. If I can't get the good brands, I might as well not have them and save my money. Hahaha.
