Monterey Bay Aquarium has another Great White on exhibit

For the Third Time,
a White Shark on Exhibit

Media: Press kit

For only the third time since 2004, we have a young white shark [Online Field Guide] in the Outer Bay exhibit. He arrived on August 28, and will remain in the million-gallon exhibit as long as he's in good health and hasn't grown too large for us to return safely to the wild.

Like our first shark in 2004, he was caught accidentally in commercial fishing gear. Like our second shark in 2006, he's a young male: just 4-feet, 9-inches long and weighing 67 ½ pounds. As with both of the other young white sharks, he was kept in an ocean holding pen off Malibu in Southern California until we observed him feeding and navigating well in the confines of the pen.

Our first shark was with us for 6 ½ months; our second, for 4 ½ months. Both were successfully returned to the wild, and the tracking tags they carried documented their journeys back in the ocean. We've tagged 10 other young sharks in the wild in Southern California waters as part of our white shark field project, and support research to track the migrations of adult white sharks tagged off the Farallon Islands and Point Año Nuevo on California's central coast.
time to check it out

I think that there is actually three in there at the moment but the newest is the smallest. Watch the second outer bay camera cause I saw him go by a couple times plus the workers there point out over the audio where the new guy is. This live camera is flippin sweet.

looks like its time to grab the free passes from the boss again

or beg one of the aquarium workers that comes into the store everyday for two passes

oh, and they only have one in there at a time. 1st one ate too many fishies, she went back. Second one, I forget why, but they got rid of her, maybe she wasn't doing well

the reason that the sharks are released is they will actually go crazy after being in a cage for to long. During my great time in Kuwait I have watched the entire series of shark week and they talked about it.

hey Matt, can you get me free passes when I get back? Or we should just set up a trip there.
I will trade you two, two item plates at Panda for free tickets to the Aquarium...
