REVERSE racism?
If society didn't focus on race....would their be a problem?
This was a question asked in a class my room mate was in. The professors point was that in many other countries racism isn't as much of an issue...or so was the argument he was illustrating.....people in the class kept using the phrase reverse racism....it was an essay test.
My room mate simply put.....WHAT is reverse racism? walked out. Got an A. Had to explain his perspective to the class.
I've always had issues with that....basically the statement implies that only whites can be racist....or puts an astrix next to non white racists. Puts a different level of wrong to it. His point was that if you were to look up racist in the dictionary would it say....a white person that hates based upon race? No it says a person that hates based on race. So all racism is equal...is there really a such thing as reverse racism?

The Asian community is racist too. I lived in Japan for 4 years. Good luck being Korean or Chinese in Japan and getting served. It is like the 60's in the US.
I was in several resturants in Japan and notice that they didn't even serve the Koreans...In fact in several cases they threw them out.
Racism is every where.
When people are different and scared of change. When they feel insecure. When they look different. When the believe in different things. Then it thrives.
Ignorant stupid people = scared and insecure = racism

Yeah, Discos in middle America suck. San Francisco is full of minorities (most can't dance), but the gay community is the disco community.
Where do think Disco comes from, a bunch of white hicks or asian americans? Hell NO!
Do you even know what disco is?

I would love to hear your dissertation on the origins of disco.

I got a question...........there are so many American citizens born in the US, but claim the race of their foreign born parents. When asked what race they are they say I'm Mexican, I'm Chinese, I'm Middle Eastern, etc. but they were born here in the US, eat Mcdonalds, go to the mall every week, go to the theatre to watch American movies, watch prime time television, & drive cars sold in the US from all over the world (you get the picture). So why do they claim their parents races if they are American? I can understand being proud of your heritage but most of these people have never even been to their parents native land. And even if they have I guarantee they wouldn't choose to live there over living in the USA.
This reverse racism issue is BS. It isn't about white vs. black anymore. What's done is history and in America's shady past. White kids act so called black, black kids act so called white, Mexican kids act so called black, while Asian kids act so called white etc........ Bottom line is.....everyone is acting American because that's what we are. How you present yourself all depends on which part of the country you come from, (the major metropolitan cities of the coasts or the suburbs of middle America) and who you grew up with. The real racism is not racism in terms of race, as much as it was, the new racism now takes the form of socio-economic status. ($$$$$$$)

Race (according to my handy friend m-w.com) - 3 a : an actually or potentially interbreeding group within a species; also : a taxonomic category (as a subspecies) representing such a group b : BREED c : a division of mankind possessing traits that are transmissible by descent and sufficient to characterize it as a distinct human type.
what you're thinking about is "nationality." Here's the definition to help clarify...(again, quoting m-w.com).
Nationality - 3 a : national status; specifically : a legal relationship involving allegiance on the part of an individual and usually protection on the part of the state b : membership in a particular nation
4 : political independence or existence as a separate nation
5 a : a people having a common origin, tradition, and language and capable of forming or actually constituting a nation-state b : an ethnic group constituting one element of a larger unit (as a nation).
