Man I wish....
What are those bands that you go... damn I wish I could have seen them live.
Feel free to dream but I'm referring more to bands that played WHILE you were alive. Like I would have loved to see Hendrix... but I was not born yet.
I started thinking of this because my mom called me and asked if I wanted to go to some shows with them. I missed out on ***** Nelson last sunday but I saw him like 2 months ago. Good show... specially for a 70 year old dude.
I'm going to see Merl pretty soon too. Stevie Nix sold old. BB King (seen him).
For me.....
Nirvana
Black Sabbath/Ozzie
Alice in Chains
Guns in Roses before the voice went south.
Bob Marley
The Misfits... the real misfits.
List is huge but these are just off the top.
Bands I'd like to see while they're still around..
The Roots
Drive by Truckers
The Gaslight Anthem
Danzig (seen the Jerry Only version of the Misfits)
Ozzie
Red Hot again.
Nine Inch Nails again.

Man, my mind is spinning over this. Definitely Nirvana. I want to see Foo Fighters again, too. I wish Faith No More would come back. I've had a blast at every one of their concerts.
I used to work at the Event Center at SJSU back in the day. Years upon years of Almost Acoustic Xmas. Even a closed performance by Clapton for an AA convention. That concert from the catwalks right above him was EPIC.
We also were in charge of Palooza when it was down in at Spartan Stadium in '96. I've seen a TON of concerts, so a lot of "want to see" bands are already crossed off the list.
I'm gonna have to think more... GREAT THREAD IDEA.

Fr: fall '93 to maybe spring '95, as part of one of the volunteer groups who helped sell merch, I caught a lot of these shows you've named. One night during a cash drop to the office, we ran into Lenny Kravitz... meaning literally almost bumped into him in our rush ... in one of the corridors.

Sorry to get a bit off-topic, Ray. First one that came to mind was Blind Melon. I'll have to come back when my head stops churning, too.

Man I wish I had gone to see Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) solo when he was here in SJ downtown. He was dead shortly after that. Even if he had played a crappy show, at least I would have seen him play once.
Nirvana
Soundgarden
Deftones this year when they were here...
Was too busy to go see A Perfect Circle for those 3 shows they did up in SF last year. I've seen them live once though

Funny story, speaking of running into artists - I was cleaning up during a break while setting up for a concert when I see some guy opening up our small roll up door.
I yelled, "HEY! You can't come through there!" ... *door slowly opens* ...
... and THE BOSS walks in.
THE
BOSS
me: (abject look of horror that I just yelled at The Boss)
Bruce put his hand on my shoulder and said, "It's alright, man."
I poo'd myself a little.
True story.

Morphine - would love to have seen them before the vocalist died
Pantera
Grateful Dead - yeah, strangely enough... went to enough of the parking lots @ Shoreline but never went inside.
I have tons of artist stories from my radio days... I'd like to take this moment to say Tori Amos is a f'n *****
