those kicks were devastating!! crippling! all shogun had to do was finish it but i was surprised at both their "efforts" or "lack there of" near the end of the 5th...shouldn't leave it to the judges

He was already noticeably limping by the 2nd round

The judges "unanimous decision" was pretty outrageous, although Machida to remain champ is no surprise. A "challenger" trying to win via points (leg kicks) is not going to give you any edge on the judges score card. Machida with his momentary spurts and successful take down defense was enough to bring this fight to a draw, in my opinion. I was disappointed at Shoguns lack of aggressiveness, Joe Rogan keeps talking about the Shogun of PrideFC but the intensity is not there ever since he stepped into the UFC. If you want to win by leg kicks you better knock him down at least.... Sorta' like what Brandon Vera will do to Randy Coture on the next event.

god that was horrible scoring. all the MMA forums and blogs went a little crazy. i think ESPN had to change their outcome on their site (don't quote me on this, just heard from a buddy). I didn't catch it live but i DLed it and watched it. I thought shogun had at least 4rds. i hate machida's style. but i do give in to the fact that he is quick, and he does know how to get points.
on another note, 1st fight of the night on PPV, anyone know yoshiyuki yoshida's intro song? can't find it anywhere.
