Thumbs down Looks like I won't be doing much of anything for a while....

I got my blood test results back from the doctor today and I tested positive for mono. I have no idea where I got it from but this sucks. I had the symptoms of headache, sore throat and fatigue around the time of Thanksgiving. As of now I'm no longer feeling tired but the back of my mouth is really swollen and gross looking, hurts to swallow or sneeze and my ears are beginning to hurt too. Typically I never get sick, and my doctor said this can last for a week to six months... I was like I know theres no cure for this but anybody else ever had this and how long did it take you to get over it?

Oh man, that sucks. Just chill at home and drink water I guess. I can ask my bro in law, he's a doc.

I had Mono when I was 15 - lasted just over a month before I started to feel much better. Take it easy and I feel for ya - been there before and it's a drag...

You'll be better in a month. It's better than my blood test. I just found out that I have high cholesterol. And I'm only 27!

Anyway, good luck bro.

I had mono 7 years ago for about a month. It went away I was fine. I then contracted Epstein Barr virus (the virus that can cause mono) two years later, and am still conflicted with Chronic Fatigue Syndrom to this day. It really sucks, but I am not going to die.

My fiend who had mono for a short time developed narcolepsy after he got better.

After you get better you need to eat healthy, and exercise in order to prevent devolping anything else. Many people get mono, get better, and live happy lives, but some people develop other things. That's why I am telling you this, if you are healthy your chances of getting something else are alot slimmer. Epstein Barr is one ****ed up virus.

My sister had mono for 4 months - during which her kidneys became so swollen they might have burst! She almost died - there was nothing the hospital could do - then it all went away.

I had mono in college.
Went to take a nap before dinner one day at 4, woke up at 7 and ran over so I didn't miss the meal.
Sat with friends and they were all like, "Where were you yesterday?", which took a little figuring out. I slept 27 hours straight and had no clue.
Took 3 months to get over, really screwed up that quarter.
I found I was more tired during the day than at night.
It was weird.
Don't push yourself if you are tired, just give in and sleep.
