I am willing to put money one the libe about what car modded will last longer. It takes lots of money to have a 400hp sti. and a modded STI is not what you would call "reliability" I 'm not a mustang fan, I just think it's great how most fords are well built and designed cars now.
2011 sti is 37k 305hp stock
2011 mustang GT 25k 415hp stock
put a turbo kit and everything you need to "build" that mustang into it for 12k and your at the price of a new stock sti. Tru AWD is great, but if someone is low on cash and wants a well rounded new sports car the muastang really does seam like a great value.

I think the challenger is the best looking muscle car out right now period, but I think its more in the STi $35k+ price range so I would exactly call it a rival to the 5.0 GT.

Yes and no 600whp on a stock blower NO 470-490 on a potted blower yes with every bolt on u can think of. But yes stock blower mustangs can hit 10's for that 600whp+ you will need a Kenny Bell with race gas. Also the stock 03-04 terminator is one of the only forged and hand built engines on American cars.

I wonder how the build quality is compared to mustangs in the 90s.
I'm sure they have improved a great deal, but one does have to question how much the car will be worth in say 4-5 yrs.
Probably not near what a '11 Sti or Evo X will be

also I wouldn't even consider getting a Mustang simply because it's just too popular. at my high school there were easily ~20 mustang's in the parking lot. how many WRX's? Just 2-3. People had to ask what my car is... I like being unique lol

^^^+1! Amen to that. Mustangs are far too common. I like the uniqueness. Nobody at my high school had a WRX. People barely even knew Subaru existed.

However, what will happen when your 600+ hp Ford GT will approach a corner with its 4,000 lb curb weight, numb steering, and Victorian era suspension (*cough* LIVE REAR AXLE *cough*)? What will be the point of having all that power if you will be unable to use it safely put it down?
There is a purpose to every vehicle and set up. I respect and like both sides for their own reasons (I have owed couple muscle cars myself), but trying to directly compare them in areas they were never meant to from the very beginning is delusional.
