Looking for a cheap sleeper project car?

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...247588569.html

It's a 1979 Ford Fiesta!

Car starts and runs, stored in garage since 1995. In good condition for being 30 years old, inside is clean and seats are intact, outside needs minor body work. This was MY project car, but I recently got married, so I don’t think I will have time to finish it. Factory installed A/C and sport dash with tachometer. Koni shocks, front and rear sway bars. 1.6L ported engine in car with stock exhaust and catalytic converter. New rebuild kit for stock Webber carburetor included. Also included is a Garrett turbocharger specifically sized for 1.6L engine, plus extra turbo center housing with bearings, turbine and compressor blades along with extra turbo housing. Aluminum plenum and hardware for turbo set-up, with Holley 5200 carburetor. Complete EXTRA 2.5 inch diameter exhaust system with headers, ready to be bolted on. Factory aluminum rims, 5 total, with tires mounted on all. This is a very fun car to drive, handles well, fast and economical. Comes with EXTRA engine, JBL speakers and many, many parts. I want to sell this as a complete package, not parting out. (818) 951-9678, serious inquiries only.
An Extra engine and a turbocharger kit? **** I wish I had 1000 bucks to spare! Or even better make it a raffle prize at BAM LOL.

I never said it wasn't popular, just that it was a good deal imho and that it was good for a laugh

1979 is not favorable for CA smog lawzzz

That is a slick little turd though, even if it's overpriced by 500 dollars

I can't find it right now, but there is a guy on the VW show circuit that put a 350hp modified STI motor into a 65 VW bus, changed out the 4 speed for a 5 speed porshe transaxle, and dropped it.

sleeeeeppper

Yikes! Where would you put it? I have wanted a Z600 or an N600 for so long, but I would probably go moto w/ an older R1 lump or somesuch. A friend of my father's has an S800 and a S600 parts car for sale. Sucks - so many sweet unique cars for sale right now but I am outta cash.

I really want this: http://monterey.craigslist.org/cto/1244519938.html

And here's spare running gear... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/1253370840.html

I would love to have a place to store cars till I can afford to do something with them. Came across sooooo many awesome cars recently. I have a friend who is desperately trying to get rid of a '69 or '70 2door Carona up in the Sac area. GAH! It's even smog excempt. 4AGE and tranny and you have quite the fun little beater.

It is an awesome car, but the Mazda stuff didn't start till the mid 90's. This car is all Ford.

The only Ford I would get as a sleeper would be the Escort Cosworth.

I'd still love to get an old Honda CVCC and drop in a Type-R engine or something to that extent.
