Looking for the best Subaru Service dept in the bay area.

Hey all,

I bought the maintenance plan for my Subie from Broadway Subaru. I hate there service dept, Crappy CS adn wait time sucks. SoA says I can use the plan at any dealership, so....which ones in the bay area is the best? I will definitely go to a non dealer service dept once the plan is done. GST is teh closest to me. I live in Castro Valley so Livermore is one option, another is Redwood City and San Jose.

I've heard good things about Livermore service department from the Mt.Madonna meets. Also i've had a great experience with Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City. They've maintained my car when AHQ was busy and haven't disappointed me yet.

They have kind of a bittersweet relationship with this forum in particular. I only take my car to them because they are close, and ONLY for warranty related issues. Their service manager and advisors and the parts people are good, but I am still hesitant to take my car there.

Horrible place to take your car. Recommended a bunch of stuff that my car needed in a PPI, turns out only like 1 of the 10 things were correct, and one of the things that was recommended was a headgasket which wasnt needed.

You honestly probably would have been better off without the service plan and just taken it to one of the known shops such as GST that you already mentioned.

That's why I don't buy maintenance plan. Either DIY for routine jobs and leave it to local suby shops for big jobs.

Just stay with livermore. It's your closest and forming a relationship with them is a good idea.

Anybody have any experience with Cypress Coast? I live over in Seaside and got 2 years of free service when I bought my wife's XT.

I bought my car at Livermore. I had some issues when I bought it but the service department did a good job taking care of everything. No complaints about them, except they are too far for me.

I only go to dealers for warranty stuff.

My vote is GST.

If you want the best, it's probably going to be Santa Cruz Subaru or Carlsen Subaru. However, it's a pretty far drive.

I had trouble with Livermore years ago, but since then, the service manager has changed. Service is definitely getting better there. Parts, sales, and service have all been pretty good to my friends and me recently.
