Maybe I'm not as geeking as all you, but I've ran Royal Purple, Mobile 1 and Redline 10w30 and have not felt, seen, smelt, tasted or heard any difference between the three. Just go with the cheapest out of those three, non of them will hurt your street car .

oh and 40wt race oil in a street sti... at that one.

i'm just kidding anyways i don't really want to spend the money for redline anymore since i'm not really that hard on the car and mobil 1 has proven results of not popping motors with 3k changes

5w30 is fine unless you're beating on it on the track or driving it hard in the summer at 90+ deg temps, then you should consider maybe going up a viscosity grade. just my humble opinion.

heavier weight does have side effects: lower mileage and less horsepower

A lot of evo guys are switching away from M1 too, even though it says to use it right on the oil cap. The current M1 isnt the same as it was a few years ago. I use quaker state Q horsepower full synthetic now. $20 a jug at walmart ftw
