My first car, given to me when I was 17, was a rusty, POS, 1968 BMW 1600 2-door sedan. It was my parent's first new car.

I did all the work on it, installed a 2002 motor, full race suspension, and stereo, everything.

I finally scrapped it in August '01, and then I picked up my '02 WRX in July '02.

I believe your first car should ALWAYS be an isht car!
No kidding, I had a crappy car when i turned 16 but some of my buddies had new cars! They all went to crap after a year because they drove them harsh.

You know what i mean by harsh when you're 16 and stupid... They were going 8000miles between oil changes and hitting redline way too often. My old nissan p/u outlasted them all.

Just be happy with what you have and don't worry about the STi's and EVO's on the streets. They'll get old and outlasted soon enough.

I started working for my first car when I was fifteen. Cutting grass, washing dishes, bussing tables, shovelling snow and raking leaves. I didn't have enough cash to buy my first car and six months of insurance until my 17th birthday. My first car? A POS ford because even though it was my money, my father thinks that Henry walked on water. So.... you are complaining about getting an Acura that you didn't even lift a finger for??? It must be nice to be spoiled by your parents, mine never did it for me. I think you need to grow up and tell your parents thanks for the wonderful car and all the other stuff they give you....

Dude, CL Type S is a pimp *** car. Ladies love to ride in luxury and a car with power to boot. Don't hate on it and call it an "old man's car". My friend has a white TL Type S that he bought early last year and it's pimp as hell. I'm sure Comptech probably has a blower, exhaust, and some suspension parts for it.

that is true....not having a car payment is a luxury, especially when you have a mortgage to worry about....

i retract my previous statements. the kid's fine by me.

if your parents are going to be pushy, be pushy yourself. explain to them using very clear words that they are WASTING their money and your hard work if they buy you a car that you don't like. i'm sure you can come to some sort of agreement. good luck.

Hey man, remember me?

Dont' sweat it. Keep pushing for a subaru. Be stern, and don't back down. Get consumer reports, and show them how reliable and how safe it is.
