Damn Noah, you're almost making me infamous as the legendary hatteroo. Thankfully no photoshoping has happened.

Speaking of photoshop I am taking a shot at your sign right now in illustrator
Hi Pleiad! I'll drop bye with a bottle of wine one of these days since Noahs making prize offers he cant follow thru on :P

I'm thinking November 8th but can't commit just yet...the shop is just not there enough for me to feel comfortable scheduling it yet.
but that is my plans, best case scenario November 8th or November 15th.
*only bad thing about the weeked of the 8th is its SEMA weekend.
thoughts?
Paul you bringing road kill....TASTY!

I'll try to cruise on over in the fail truck some time this week and get all your internet/phone/tv properly setup. Oh, or maybe if AIM ever gets my tire in, ill ditch work early and take a long loop around to sears point and then your shop.
VRT MBasile - Short story on the comcast boxes and unconnected cables is that one is a cable modem, and the other a VOIP telephone device. As you noted, they only connected one of two to something. I'm guessing the install went something like this:
Install splitter to get cable for TV, Internet, Phone
Hook TV cable to splitter and set cable boxes up (as its the one thing they are good at).
Hook cable to cablemodem and test internet.
Hook cable to VOIP phone box.
See punchdown block and get scared due to not actually know jack about phone wiring.
Leave phone cable in baggy not actually connected to anything.
Tell Noah everything is done and leave.

the one internet cable plugged in he didnt even know where it went (which I dont get, isnt he the internet guy?)
he then proceeded to tell me the patch panel the phone guy would figure out, only to then back track and say it would probably be him...LOL WTF?
I asked how the phone is going to work and he said I dont know.
dude these people are idiots. who says the phone guy will make it work, to only say it would probably be him.
dude I'm over it.
come fix please

OK, heres my first round of logo ideas. As you can tell, I'm not too fond of arrows or very bright colors. I 'get' the arrow thing, but I don't think its necessary at all, it also makes for a very hard successful composition. The rectangular nature of this sign isn't easy to work with in itself, a lot of graphic elements make it a lot harder. I think a stacked type design is the solution to this as other avenues can look 'gimmicky' or 'cute'.
I stayed away from a lot of colors, strokes, graphic novelties, etc. The gray background will ultimately be the aluminum look of the sign, which I like since I'm into a modern/industrial look. The blue and gold is obviously Subaru inspired. I think the less graphic elements and garish colors you have the classier, timeless and more sophisticated design you'll end up with.
I think a successful design can work for a variety of purposes. I think the same identity (with maybe a few minor variations) should be used for all signage, stickers, letterhead, business cards, etc. Nothing says 'amateur hour' more than 5 different versions of a logo spread across a single companies stationary.
Obviously tweaks can be made to any of these, some of these I don't like, but just included as options which may spark future ideas.

Very nice Jason...I agree that a few I don't agree with (arrows) but the others are very eye pleasing IMHO.
I personally like the 2, 3, and 5.
very very good, thank you for your input and it just might get used (I still have another day left before I have to pick a design, I'm intrigued).
