Lets talk Turbo's and Power in the Bay Area
I's glad to see we are at sea level. Which makes it nice power wise, But then again we have the ref problem. being pulled over and given a horsepower ticket. Maybe its better to live higher up and make less and not get tickets, Then stick around here make more and get tickets.... lol
So I am at a cross road. What turbo should I buy.
I have been eyeing the Power Enterprise RX6R 76-20 but the cost is high. Its very hard to beat the quality and I really understand that. Quality parts cost.
Problem with that turbo I see is the surporting parts and the shock n awe when you get pulled over and they look under the hood. I think its more then what I can spend right now and feel ok about it.
So after looking into Full Race, UR, Which are others I have looked at. I then spotted ATP in Hayward. (Not sure about perrin. heard mixed things.)
My target is basicly a gt30r. gt3076 I think I can get away with that without blowing something up. Once I go back into the motor I can then bolt on the 35R turbo.
ATP also carries gt30R oem non rotated bolt on turbos. And can be had with some very nice features. v band clamps all the way around. external wastegate bolted to the exhaust housing.
Should I go rotated and get the full 4 inch inlet or should I stay 3inch and go oem mount.
My goal is 400whp. with room to grow and not spend money twice.
I'm looking to get a new fmic and pipes to match flow rates and downpipe and catback to match.
Anyone recomend anything?
What is everyone using?
Ihave been told a fpgreen, But man I have seen allot of failures as of late. db20g I think I'll get tired of. and just want to sell and go bigger. So that why I am looking for something else.

WRX or STi?
If you have a STi motor I'd go with the DOMIII

If you fear of pulling over and going to a ref station, get something a little more less shiney. Also, something that you can use with tmic and stock looking turbo inlet. That way you could easily change back to stock tmic and stock downpipe (without changing back the turbo and injectors) if need to be inspected. Also, external wasgate will not be a good idea for appearance of stock turbo system.
(link mentioned above me, seems to be ideal)

400whp aint happening on 91 octane, you need race gas or meth/alky injection for that kind of power.
Who is going to tune it? I would ask the tuner which turbo they have the best results with.

thats a very untrue statement I have seen 400whp on a fp red with 91 and a gt35. The most you can get from 91 is gonna be about 430whp

Its very difficult to get 400whp on the lower reading dynos on straight 91 Octane... even with a 35R I usually see 350-370whp without pushing the tune too hard. Now on race gas or with some meth injection, you can go much higher of course.
Thanks

As far as turbo selection, the ATP turbos work very well all around. The built-in EWG setup is very slick as well and the best way to go EWG I've seen to date. It sounds like the 3076 or the 35 would be the right choice for your goals. You can also coat the housings black to keep things looking low key.
The Blouch turbos are nice as well but I believe the ATP housings are better overall.
I'll be putting the ATP 3076 on my own car once the shop is going strong. We're also putting the ATP 35r on a badass bugeye soon

I think I am going to talk with ATP tomorow about the gt3076
I hope they cant put a rotated kit togther. I like what I have read and seen from their parts. Rotated will offer the best spool I think. Least what I have read. Looks like pricing would be $3000-3800.00 which is what I am feeling better with.
I think having Autohq for the installers I hope to have a very strong car as long as the oem STi pistons can take it. Shiggy will be the tuner so really not to worried about the motor or the tune.
So running the atp gt3076 rotated,
What some recomending fmic? gdy? aps?
Utimate racing makes a gt3076r that works well with a spearco tmic. I like that idea for smog *****. But heat soak would be bad,
I'm not sure if I'll be living in the bay area after december. So I am worried about heat soak. My other home is in phx area.

when i go bigger turbo i am only going to go FP 20g, because I don't want to stray away from the tmic and all that, i want it to look as stock as possible, with a good amount of power gains.
