ive run VIA chipsets on the last 4 systems ive owend, all AMD platforms with ATI cards and had excelent performance. 95% of the systems i build (at work) that use ATI cards have VIA chipsets. only systems with nvidia cards do i use nvidia chipsets.

go out and get yourself a Hauppauge PVR-250, record some TV show in low res(480x320), then watch that recording and record something else at the same time.
You will see either a blue screen, or the program/driver will crash and die.

VIA chipsets are fine for browsing the web, email, playing video games with AGP cards.
As soon as you start trying to use the most you can across the bus it barfs.

im not too worried about one devices issue with the VIA chipset.


i would advise against ANY motherboard with a heatpipe on it. many have been recalled and i have read many bad reviews. just my .02

its not just hauppauge, its any video capture card.

i disagree. i have worked with systems that use amd cpus, via chipsets and do high and low rez video capture. but we have gone fairly far off topic. if you want to continue this tangent, pm me.
