STEVEN CREEK really SUCKS
- they over charge on everything and have horrible customer service

LIVERMORE and CARLSEN (redwood city) RECOMMENDED
- they have great customer service and will help you out whether or not you are going buying

This is a great sticky thread.... LOL, SC scratched my car when I took it in for my 15k service......and tried to deny that they did it, and told me how they take such "good care" of their customers cars. I was like BS, busted out some pics (my car was freshly waxed) and then after 3 days of giving me the runaround they finally took the blame and agreed to have it painted for me, but they would only fix it if I used the dude that THEY contract (he works out of the back of a truck, and comes to the lot to do the work.) I told them I didnt want some crappy spray can paint job, and refused the Fix, so they gave me some touch up paint so I can fix it myself.....they had to order the paint and it never came in, or they never called me to pick it up....I got the royal screw job.....

I hate SC Subaru

that sucks. Santa Cruz subaru's car washers scratched my bumper....first oil change. first scratch..I freaked out. But they agreed to have it fixed. I haven't been able to do it because it's weekdays only and I am over here and what not. But I was just there and after 8 months...they said they'd still take care of it. Awesome. I seriously tell everyone that is even curious about a subaru to go there....and I'm talking about pismo beach, san francisco...I don't care.

Let me add my frustration...

So I'm in Sunnyvale this week for work. The STi is due for an oil change so I swing by the closest dealer - Steven's Creek to pick up an oil filter.

I know about the bad rep, but I figured it was an off the shelf part and that it shouldn't pose any problem.

I was going to buy a six pack online, but the shipping from allsubaru was ridiculously high. On their site (and a couple of others), the 080 filter listed for $7.51 and was being sold at $5.98.

Steven's Creek Subaru wanted, get this $14.50 for a friggin oil filter that Subaru says should only be $7.51. I got in a full on argument with the monkey behind the parts counter asking him to explain how they can double the price of an oil filter and get away with it.

I can understand slimey salesmen, bad service, and overall rudeness, but charging a premium on OEM parts? Jesus...

Wish I would have read this earlier. We bought our Suby at Steven's Creek. They were nice enough to extend our warranty at "no charge"!!! I guess they meant "no charge to THEM".

Every time we call to get the warranty removed, they either say, "okay, there, we fixed it. Bye", or "we're too busy, come down tomorrow". I don't mind having the warranty, I just don't like all the lies.

the only way to have the warranty "removed" is to cancel as i have done...when you purchased the car there should have been an "extended services warranty" that they had you signed as per your agreement. on the back it lists what steps need to be done to cancel this. be prepaired to wait atleast two months to even hear from them. i recommend making copies of all the documents you provide them , walking it in to stevens creek, and personally handing it over to one of the finance managers. they are the one's responsible to begin the paperwork. this way you know they have it, and they can't bs you with any of their crap. make sure you make it clear that the check should be forwarded to you and not the finance company (if you financed your car). this way you can direct the check back to payment of the car, or something else.

You know, after some thinking, I thought that sh*t was funny. I remembered during the summer of 02 or something. A rep from SC Subaru wanted to get peoples' business back and even went as far as posting on our boards to win us back and joining us for our summer end dinner at TGI Friday's at Union City. He tried and tried. Then finally one day he posted that he quit working at Stevens Creek because they were sh*tty and he didn't wanna cover for their asses anymore.

I figured someone who was remotely honest would get frustrated with Stevens Creek.

Santa Cruz is great for service but it's a bit expensive. My 15k cost me damn near $200 and I only had them do like 2/3rds of it.

nope.

a 30k can go anywhere from like $350-550.

You could go to MPJ for what....$275ish I think they said.

I think santa cruz's 30k is in the $550 range.

Hello my name is WOTWRX, and I have purchased my Subaru at Stevens Creep.

There I admit it...unfortunatly for me I did get my WRX there...my experience was so bad, it's an experience I try to forget...so for you future WRX owners out there.. DO NOT go to steven creek...even though there might be the occational good experience...just stay away from that place.
I went with a friend to Santa Cruz Subaru a few months later and the atmosphere is completly different. They need to fire everyone that works at stevens creek. I just hope this thread will help all future bay area Subaru owners.
