LED dome lights suck. I tried it on my previous car and couldn't stand the darkness.

I wanted the "white" light, not yellow, but didn're realize LED "white" means low intensity white

Not all LEDs are the same. A friend and I have sarted a company that distributes, among other things, LED flshlights and LED emergancy vehicle warning lights. 1st and 2nd generation LEDs were dim, which is what you were probably using, but the new 3rd and 3.5 generation LEDs, like Luxeon and other proprietary LED technologies can be as bright, and when using proper optics, brighter than Xenon bulbs of similar size. Find the right type of LED and you'll be more than imressed with how bright they can be.

I got the ones listed on the main page...
www.leddomelight.com
Have to say - not too impressed. Are they brighter than stock? Yes.
But the light that they cast is really blue and on a black interior, that doesn't translate well to visible light. But oh well.. they're installed now and I guess it doesn't really bother me all that much, although I think I actually prefer the old standard OEM bulb...

If you guys are seriously that blind that the stock interior lights or non-HID headlights arent bright enough for you I dont think you should be driving at night

if you are to leave the light on, come back to the car and it won't start, a LED would take longer to drain battery.

I've seen one of these in action:

A friend replaced the dome light bulb in his Forester with a red one. It's bright enough to read inside the car at night, and at the same time the red light doesn't mess with your night vision. The white version would probably be overkill.
