lcd hdtv
I know there are a bunch of you guys here that are tv/home theatre gurus.
Just wondering how many of you guys actually run the vizio 32" LCD monitor?
It's relatively inexpensive for this particular unit and i'm definitely interested in it.
linkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
That's a direct link for those of you who aren't sure which model i'm talking about. It only has 1080i, not 1080p. I will be mainly using this tv for my ps3 and wii, so yeah. Thanks

do some research before you spout nonsense.

For instance in the Engadget HD lab, we sit around 10 feet away on our AOL-issued rolling chairs and we wouldn't see a picture quality difference if our 42-inch HDTV increased from 720p to 1080p.
CN: you don't need 1080p unless you have a 50"+ screen cuz you wont notice a difference

This couldn't me more true. The general rule of thumb is premium viewing distance for 1080p is 2x the diagonal width of the screen. 32 x2 is only 64"; only 5.33' which is isn't very far. Anything past that and you won't notice any difference vs. a 720p set. I don't know necessarily that this figure is 100%, but it gets you in the ball park.
Many Best Buys have 720 and 1080 sets right next to each other. I recommend you do what I did; go find a 720 and 1080 set hanging near each other and step back to what you think your usual viewing distance will be. I view at about 8-9". At that distance I could see NO difference between 720 and 1080 on <46" TVs. I ended up going DLP instead of LCD and with the larger screens I was then able to afford (56-65") I could see a difference and did end up opting for 1080.
Regarding Vizio; I'm a samsung guy myself based solely on casing asthetics. However, I've heard nothing but positive reviews on the Vizio line from friends that have it.

I personally have a sharp 27" that only supports 1080i and also have a samsung 40" that supports 1080p.
I would agree to some extent, yes the smaller screen LCD. yeah.. maybe you can't see that much difference but it's a smaller screen and you can't see the detail. HOwever, if you are comparing the same size the i and the p is very very different. "P" you will go WOW.. "i" you will go yay.
I believe if you are just looking at TV and depending if the Visio have an internal reciever for HD, I would go buy a P. I bought mind when LCD were still very expensive but then I never regret spending the extra. PS3 will support 1080p but not all games has that kinda quality. wii only supports 720p if i am correct.
I say get the P. IMO 720p, 480p, 1080i don't make that much difference, but 1080p for viewing true HD format stuff it's night and day.
I think the most import is what you think. Doesn't matter what research shows or what experts say. YOu are the end user. If you buy a 1080i and you like it and your are satisfy then you bought what you need. Each person has perference on different things. For exam, I like color to be sharp and bright but my girl always true the color and saturation down because that's what she looks to me she is not using the full benefit of HDTV and enjoying the quality of it.

whatever you do, DO NOT buy the vizios from walmart.
they are the neutered versions.
for example, when i was looking at the 32" version, the VW model is VW-32L.
while every one else's model is VX-32L.
if you read the specs, it's missing a the VGA input and something else (i forget). but the VGA input was important for me.
and the WM price was $595, while the one i got from circuit city, although it was on sale, was $599. right now, i think regularly at CC is like $40-50 more.
it's great for the bedroom.
soon, i'll be picking up a 40-42" 1080p model from someone.
heck even sears is selling the 42" panny plasma for around $1k (if you use their card)...

hrmmm choices choices. i'll probably just get the 32 inch vizio from sears (friend has 10% employee discount) or from costco. Like i said in my original post, i'm gonna be mostly using this tv for games (ps3 and wii) and occasionally hook it up to my computer.
Anyone uses their hdtv's for a computer monitor? hah.
