LOL!

Anyways, this interview went to sh*t. Had my oral board earlier this evening with the City of Orange. It didn't go as I expected. I practiced, practiced, and practiced. I walked in there feeling extremely confident and knowing all the answers to the questions that I practiced. I got off to a little bit of a rocky start, but the words just started flowing as the process continued. I felt like I didnt do as well as I would've liked, but now I know what I need to work on for future interviews.

But that's not the real reason I did as poorly as I did. One of the three interviewers was VERY unprofessional.

Because of that, I'm thinking of writing a formal email to either human resources or the chief declaring my concern/formal withdrawal from the process.

I emailed my professor from last term, who is also the chief for soledad and greenfield department, to see what his take is.

I'm not exactly worried because there are several other departments that I'm testing with, but I know not to get my hopes up because I have a very low chance of getting picked up with a department right away now...especially if I'm still finishing school (I finish in december). Even if I don't get any offers, I still have my secret service internship that's in the works. Also, there's always the opportunity for me to apply next year too after I finish school.

What do you guys think?

HAHAHA

I guess it would help if I included that part, huh?

Let's just say she was snickering and laughing at random times throughout the interview. I understand her, and everyone else including myself laughing at this question "Have you ever looked at pornography on a work computer"...embarrassingly "Yes, I have looked at pornography on my computer"...."No, have you ever used a work computer to access pornography"....and we laughed. THAT, i Understand because EVERYONE was laughing.

However, at one point during the interview process, she was laughing/snickering so much, she literally got up and walked out of the room for several seconds before coming back in and calming down. I don't know what the hell she was laughing about. I seriously wanted to stop and ask her, "Is there something funny?" But I didn't want to be a d!ck about it...thinking back on it, I should've anyways.

Ironically enough, the Chief for Orange Police has a strategy he calls the 5 pillars of success and one of the pillars is Professionalism - All department employees exemplify Professionalism in every facet of the job. It is clear that after today's interview, not everyone was acting in a professional manner. I do not wish to talk bad about the department and I'm sure every other employee is as dedicated and professional as they seem to be, but if a special investigator who's part of the interview panel can't even display professionalism during something as serious as a panel interview for this prestigious position, I refuse to be a part of that team.

Kinda ***** on my part, but it's kinda true if you think about it man

I've been thinking I may just call HR up tomorrow morning and find out her full name and then make a complaint about it to either the chief or HR. I'm not sure what I can do, but I'll wait back from my professor and see what he recommends. I already know I'm not getting the position, so this really can't hurt me anyways.

It's just, at the point where she walked out of the room LAUGHING, that just kinda put a whole blanket on everything like the rest of my answers to the questions didn't matter anymore...hope that makes sense

She probably got a funny text or something lame like that. Just remember, if you DO complain, you've probably made an enemy in the department, so if you end up working there or in a nearby city, be careful.

Just my 2 cents.

My guess.... they did that isht on purpose. They wanted to see how'd you'd react to that kind of thing. You will face that kind of disrespect on the street every day. If you can't handle it from a fellow employee then how will you handle it from a gang banger that's laughing at you and talking about banging your sister?

But hell...maybe she just sucks and should be pulled off the panels.

Quite honestly... when you feel like you did bad you probably did well.

Good luck. Not to many jobs out there. My buddy has been trying all over California and Hawaii for a couple years now. Nearly made Hawaii. He even took a shot at Redding.

How much crime is there in the City of Orange anyways? I'm guessing not much, and it'd probably be a boring place to be a cop.

I have a question for anyone who cares to field it. I just went to a shopping center to ship out some ebay stuff, and as I was pulling into a parking spot, a man in a black Crown Vic pulled into the spot from the other side (wrong direction for the parking lot). I just sort of stared at him for a sec because... Really? He started angrily motioning for me to get out of the spot, so I stayed. Then, he opened his door, got partially out, and got out a black leather fold and displayed a badge at me, and told me the spot was his and I needed to GTFO. I was sort of shocked, but did not move. He was notably heated, yelling, so, not wanting to take this too much further, I backed out of the spot and quickly/easily found another spot. As I was unloading my car, he came over to me and said basically sorry about that but I was waiting for that spot for 15 minutes because this is where I get my hair cut. I was in a hurry by then so I just said "it's just a parking spot, no need to get heated" but after a while it clicked that he just flashed a badged so he could park his car to get a hair cut. If it would have clicked earlier, I probably would have had a talk with him - but what do you think about this?

I asked this because of the topic of "disrespect" that OMA mentioned. I agree, and with discussions with friends and family that are LEOs, I often wonder how they deal with the day to day crap they have to deal with. I do my best to respect LEO's in every case, and usually that respect is returned, but this is just silly. Basically, personally, it's crap like this that makes it harder for me to have general respect for LEOs. Maybe I am just taking things too seriously, but I have been seeing (personally, with my own eyes) things like this a bit lately and it does grind my gears a bit.

That's some B.S. If you had his badge number you could easily report him and he'd receive some sort of reprimand.

I woulda told the dude to f off too. WTF?
