its just like that "are you smarter than a 5th grader show"... even MIT/Stanford whatever graduates lose to 5th graders. But at the end of the day youd rather be a Graduate than a 5th grader...or skilled driver rather than a circle racing money *****

Gordon was one second slower than Montoya -- winner of the Monaco Grand Prix just 10 days ago -- on a course he'd never run in his life.

you forgot Juan Pablo Montoya and btw non of those driver that come from "other forms of motorsports" are doing good in nascar soooooo......
im a sure fan of JPMontoya which by far is the most decorated driver in nascar, but aside from his win in mexico his performance in a stock car have been disappointing. oh well ill enjoy my JPM edition oakleys and hope things turn around next year

I hate Nascar but my family's really into into it. some how i got talked in to going to sears point next week.
On the brght end the SCCA has a few events that dont cause a gag reflex.
WRC > F1 > FIA GT > LAPD high speed chases > NHRA > ten year olds on bikes > Nascar

Just because you don't like ASSCAR and prefer other forms of motorsports where you have to make an effort to turn doesn't make you an uptight jerk off.
Well I'm not going to flame you for it, but you do have my sympathies

Why is it that F1 drivers have to be in tip top shape, by working out everyday because of the intense g-forces they face constantly throughout the race... yet asscar they can be over-weight

Also some ORR drivers ... this happened at the Nevada Open Road Challenge in May 2007:
http://www.sscc.us/forum/cgi-bin/ult...c;f=1;t=001421
"The big story was Richard Hille's remarkable feat of driving by Braille. In turn 2 at 205 mph an oil line let go, and the oil hitting the headers turned Richard's world completely blind in white smoke. Rather than panicking, he eased out of the throttle, sensed the left side tires touch the rumble strip, steered gently to the right, felt the right side tires touch the rumble strip, gently corrected the steering, and then, as the in-car video shows the smoke clearing, it also shows the car directly on the center line exiting the turn. What a driver!"
This is what my friend had to say about his adventure afterwards:
"From my perspective it was all just a matter of survival. I had to think VERY FAST or probably die. Given those choices, thinking fast seemed the better way to go.... ;-)"
Another guy in the same community has managed to keep his car on the road after blowing not one, but two tires at 200+ mph!
Now these are supposedly "amateur" drivers ... in my book they're up there with the WRC professionals.
