Know anyone looking to lift an Impreza? Or looking for shorter gears?

I've gutted my Forester XT and will be swapping everything to STI driveline stuff - LCAs, tranny mounts, ptich stops, driveshafts, R180.

Anyone know anyone interested in all of the OEM Forester geometry in their Impreza? This will basically do a 1.18" lift of the body on top of the motor, tranny, rear, etc. So your control arm and lateral link mount points are lower that OEM, and you can run a lift and bigger tires with correct geometry. Let me know if you or anyone else you know is potentially interested. Otherwise this will likely all end up in the trash.

I also have a 5 speed and R160 with shorter gearing (numerically higher) as well, if anyone is interested.

Cheers,
Jason

Wouldn't work if its an sti unless you have an 04 but it says you have an 06. I could be wrong though.

I'm in Woodside and work in Palo Alto. Off the top of my head I have:
  • Front subframe risers and longer bolts for risers
  • longer steering knuckle for the lower steering rack
  • longer pitch stop mount
  • lower tranny mount (5 speed)
  • longer shifter rods (also have kartboy shift lever and all bushings)
  • driveshaft with lower center bearing
  • Rear diff cradle + different T bar (I think this lowers the rear diff and lateral link mount points)
  • (Also have STi lateral links, as I'm going Whiteline)
  • different trailing arm mounts that move the mounts back to handle the lift so you don't need a longer trailing arm
  • No axles, as I'm reusing the axles I think the axles are the same as WRX axles though.

108k miles on the car, most of it with ~300awtq. 65k and counting on a built motor, and I got 65k out of a basic ACT clutch for context on how the car has been driven. I have a 9 second Ariel Atom, so beating on a 12 second Forester isn't really my style.

Also have the R160 and 5 speed with the following ratios (will give you way shorter gears if you go up in tire size or want deeper gears)

3.454 / 1.947 / 1.366 / 0.972 / 0.738 / 3.900FD - '02-'05 USDM WRX
3.454 / 1.947 / 1.366 / 0.972 / 0.738 / 3.700FD - '06-'07 USDM WRX
3.454 / 1.947 / 1.366 / 0.972 / 0.738 / 4.444FD - '04-'08 Forester 2.5XT

I have a set of coilovers that I can sell as well, but they are at dumped Impreza height.

All you'd need to complete the lift is a set of Forester struts, and/or these. Both would give you a 2.5" lift. Subtle Solutions

In other words, I'm converting my Forester to an Impreza, so I can get rid of everything you'd need to convert your Impreza to a Forester.

Make me an offer, I have zero idea what all of this stuff is worth.

Cheers,
Jason

Sat in an XV on Sat. For some reason, it actually doesn't feel that tall despite that lift? I kinda liked it.

I sat in one at the snowboard expo and I'm seriously considering one if I get out of my wagon. Especially if they add a turbo to the line. That thing gets a turbo I'm all about it.

Get a rack up top. Get a light bar up front. Some nice wheels and nobbies for the snow. Nice exhaust and a tune. Call it done. Sick little snow masher.

I'd miss hitting twisties... or I'll wait for the lease returns to start showing up and pick one up that way. Keep my wagon... toss a cage in it and turn it into a twisty track masher. It's been paid off a LONG time so it's pretty much paid for itself once over.

Yeah, stepping up to whitelines to adjust camber for track days - PM me a fair offer and they're yours.

Considering I have a FXT that has what I think is a bad tranny, can you quote me the price on yours + rear diff? I was gonna pull mine apart and try to rebuild it but I could always take the lazy route if the price is good

Will do - I should have it out tonight - waiting on a T70 to drain it from Amazon.

I had a bad noise during clutch dis/engagement that was the driver for me finally doing the 6-speed swap - I'm 95% sure it was the clutch and not the tranny but I'll know for sure tonight when I get it all apart.

I also have a BNIB ACT clutch disk, throwout, and pilot - was going to turn my flywheel and ACT PP and have a new clutch, but went 6 speed instead.

Cheers,
Jason

Here's a thread on how to lift: The Unofficial "How to Lift your Impreza" Thread - DirtyImpreza Forums

I have all the parts out now - anyone interested in picking up this weekend?
